Actress Rachel Zegler recently opened up about her physical and mental health on Instagram. The “West Side Story” actress posted a now-deleted story, including a photo of the scar she got after undergoing a breast biopsy to check for breast cancer cells. He also shared the story of his experience that happened when he was only 19 years old.
Zegler was open about his mental health, even before he became famous. In 2018, she tweeted that she suffered from anxiety and depression and was working on herself. Zegler made headlines six months ago after revealing to fans that he was not invited to the Oscars, a decision the Academy quickly rectified by inviting him as a presenter.
Zegler’s film career will be very busy, as she is currently filming Disney’s live-action adaptation of Snow White, which will be released in March 2024. She is also slated to reunite with her boyfriend and West Side Story co-star, Josh Andres Rivera, in the prequel “Hunger Games”.

Rachel Zegler Shares Her Scary Breast Cancer Experience

Zegler recently took to Instagram to share the story of her breast cancer scare when she was 19 years old. The actor wrote per E! News“No OB/GYNs are taking new patients because of the pandemic backlog, but I was fortunate to have the care of my pediatrician who gave me an ultrasound, which led to an outpatient biopsy procedure.”
He explained that it was a pretty serious situation but he was thankful that everything went well, and the biopsy revealed that the lump was harmless. The post also included a black-and-white photo of Zegler’s scar from the procedure. She said the scar reminded her “to check my breasts regularly for any irregular growths.”
The actress also advised women to check for lumps in their breasts regularly. She wrote, “Fibroadenoma in my left breast is a common occurrence but very scary to find. Early detection saves lives!!! Check your t–ty meat.”

Zegler is also very open about his mental health. The Golden Globe winner has previously revealed that she struggles with mental health, but this was long before she rose to fame in “West Side Story.”

The revelation of Zegler’s breast cancer scare comes just six months after the actress shocked her fans by revealing she was not invited to the 2022 Oscars, despite “West Side Story” being nominated in four categories. Zegler revealed the understatement after a fan commented that they were excited to see him on the Oscars red carpet.
Per Explosion, she responded to a fan’s comment with, “I wasn’t invited so my boyfriend’s sweatpants and flannel.” When some fans asked why he didn’t accept the invite, Zegler wrote, “Idk y’all. I’ve tried everything but it just doesn’t seem to happen :’) I’ll get West Side Story off my couch and be proud of the work we’ve done tirelessly these past three years.”
He continued, “I wish some last-minute miracle would happen and I could celebrate our film in person but hey that’s just the way it is sometimes, I guess. Thanks for all the shock and anger—I’m disappointed too. But that’s okay. So proud of our film .” A few days later, the Academy granted Zegler’s wish by inviting him to be a presenter, and he accepted.
