President Biden came under fire for hosting a barbecue at the White House on Sunday afternoon while war raged in Israel and terrorists allegedly held Americans hostage.
“While Hamas holds Americans hostage, Joe Biden is enjoying a picnic with a live band,” Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley tweeted, accompanied by a screenshot of the White House Pool report.
The group’s report, which was emailed after 6pm on Sunday, said a reporter could hear a “live broadcast” at the White House.
“In the late afternoon and early evening, a live band could be heard coming from the area near Taman Mawar. Your collector asks why the band is playing. From the White House: The President and First Lady hosted a BBQ for White House Executive Residence Staff and their families,” the pool reporter wrote.
A handful of other conservatives joined Hawley in criticizing the White House for the event on social media.
The BBQ was held after the Israeli government officially declared war on Sunday, the first time the country has made such a declaration since the Yom Kippur War in 1973, after the Hamas terrorist organization launched a surprise attack on the country.

At least 700 people in Israel have died since the attacks began on Saturday morning, and at least 2,000 more have been injured.
Hamas has reportedly taken a large number of hostages amid the attacks, including women and children, while US officials are trying to confirm whether Americans have been taken hostage or killed.
