BMX rider Pat Casey left behind his wife Chase Casey and children when he tragically died in a motorcycle accident at the X Games freestyle motocross track in Ramona. Fans paid tribute to him and his surviving family members.

The couple shared two children during their short marriage. Pat is sadly survived by his wife Chase with their 8 year old Reid, and 7 year old Taytum. On Taytum’s birthday on April Fool’s Day 2021, “Happy 5th birthday to my little April fool! We spent the day at the beach because it’s his favorite place! ❤️? ? #taytumanncasey #myaprilfool.”
When he took part in the FISE World competition in Montpellier, the family had just returned from a family trip across Europe. Pat posted a cute video of Reid and Taytum posing at the Eiffel Tower on her Instagram.
Chase regularly posts pictures of his children online and Pat’s YouTube channel has featured the family several times. Pat published a video in February of their visit to Great Wolf Lodge, where they took advantage of the water park and other amenities.
The family posed in front of the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River in a photo published by Chase on May 29 from their trip to Paris. Chase revealed more sensitive information about his personal life in 2022. He joined Sandals Riverside Church and shared his baptism photo on Instagram.
Their son Reid (@reidcaseybmx) is already following his father’s passion. “I’m so excited that he loves the same things that I do because I get to enjoy them with him,” Pat said. Adding, “This is how we bond I guess.” Chase went on to add that he was equally supportive of Reid’s ambitious motocross career but was nervous to see him compete.
During their appearance on the web series, the couple also showed off their many pets. The family has 10 chickens, two dogs, four turtles and a cat. They jokingly call their home “Casey’s ranch.”
BMX rider Pat Casey died tragically on June 6 in San Diego following a motorcycle accident. According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Office website, the young athlete was only 29 years old when he attempted the fatal jump at the Slayground Motocross Park in Ramona. “Deputies and paramedics tried to save lives. However, the man was pronounced dead at the scene,” said the office’s statement.
“The world lost one of the worst it ever did. I’m so sorry for his wife and kids,” TJ wrote alongside Casey’s sweet snap. “@patcaseybmx will forever be remembered for the sweetheart of a man who was once his lover. #bmxfamily.”
As a talented young man, Pat quickly rose to the top of BMX cycling. He won a medal in the X Games in 2012 when he was 19 years old! He then successfully defended his championship a year later. Pat “displayed incredible skills and daring moves” during the competition, according to DirtBikeLover.
Pat’s father, who not only built him his first bike ramp but also made sure he had a place to practice his drums, encouraged him to follow his passion from an early age. “I also remember thinking that his dad not only built him a mini ramp, but also built a studio under one of the decks so Pat could roar on the drums between sessions,” wrote longtime friend Ryan Fudger on Our bmx.
