Radio show host Howard Stern, known for his controversial issues, recently slammed billionaire philanthropist Oprah Winfrey for showing off her lavish lifestyle. After rising to fame in the 1980s on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” Winfrey quickly rose to billionaire status and, in the early 2000s, became the first black woman to become a billionaire.

Since starting his talk show, the television producer has ventured into other businesses. Winfrey founded Harpo Productions in 1986, and by 2011, she launched OWN, a cable channel. He has about $65 million worth of stake in the company.

Winfrey is also involved in various philanthropic activities, including building and funding a school for girls in South Africa. The billionaire isn’t shy about posting about his daily activities in his multi-million dollar mansion. Further, Stern explained on his show that Winfrey knows how to be rich and her habit of flaunting her wealth makes him uncomfortable. He went on to state that he doesn’t think people, no matter how rich they are, should show off their wealth.

“This is something I’m not comfortable with,” he said. “I don’t think people need to show off their wealth,” he said. Quivers, however, disagreed and said the philanthropist was only giving his millions of fans a glimpse into his life through his social media posts. He responded, “Oprah is just showing you her life. She’s not showing off.”

Stern, however, maintained his previous stance and said that the rich need to act more aware that there are people poorer than them. “Well, you’ve got to come to your senses and know that there are people out there struggling, Robin,” the radio host said. “You have to. You have to think about people who don’t have — to eat. You know what I’m saying? I mean, come on. You must be a little aware of this.”

The radio host praised Winfrey for her philanthropic acts, including building and funding her South African school, The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls. He also invited the children to his mansion every Thanksgiving to be with him.

“Every Thanksgiving, she welcomes African girls to her boarding school in Africa for girls,” Stern said. “I think [the girls] believe God Oprah because she gave them an education. He gave them food, don’t ask. They love him. And it’s amazing. I have to be honest. I mean, it’s a real charity.”
