A Russian woman has died from a “pubic fracture” she suffered when she fell from her husband’s high-speed jet ski, authorities said.
Elena Spiryakova, 49, from Samara, a region near Russia’s border with Kazakhstan, was enjoying a day on the Samara River in July with her husband, Oleg, 52, when she fell into the water as she sped away.
“After another round, the woman was unable to stay on the jet ski and fell into the water, at which point her husband was ‘gassed,'” investigators reported.
He suffered a serious “hydraulic injury”.
The impact of the fall created a “water hammer” effect, which occurs when a fluid in motion stops or is forced to change direction suddenly – causing him to suffer a genital rupture, Russian newspaper Baza reported.

Spiryakova was rushed to a local hospital afterwards, but eventually succumbed to her injuries.
