Maybe he’s trying to take a few off his Christmas shopping list.
People heading to a Florida mall were surprised Tuesday night when they arrived to find a 12-foot, 600-pound alligator loitering by the entrance.
Deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers raced to the scene at the Coconut Point Mall in the town of Estero and quickly apprehended the scaly intruder.
A short video posted on the Facebook page for the sheriff’s office shows at least half a dozen people working to lift and carry the giant gator to a vehicle waiting to take it away.
The agency wrote in a post that working together, deputies and FWC agents “saved this big guy!”
The trio of deputies then happily posed for pictures with the toothy predator, after it was secured with restraints.

“There really is never a dull moment on patrol here in Lee County, eh?” A statement from the sheriff’s office was read. “If you’re serious about joining law enforcement, we promise great fun and exercise here.”
It was not immediately known how the pesky alligator ended up at the mall.
