The late father of Erik and Lyle Menendez was accused of rape by someone other than his son, a former member of the Menudo group. Roy Rosselló claims that Jose Menendez drugged and sexually assaulted him.
This happened moments before the businessman and his wife were brutally murdered by their son, who also accused their father of sexually assaulting them for years while their mother was drunk and out of pills.
Rosselló dropped the bombshell in a new docuseries to be broadcast by Peacock to be called Menendez + Menudo: Boys Betrayed. The former singer teased the news in a promo for the series.
Rosselló did not elaborate on how he met Jose, but Jose worked in the music business in the 80s and 90s, around the time Menudo was active. He is also close to the Latin music community because of this involvement.

The singer and his story will be told on May 2 when the series and all its episodes premiere on Peacock. This will be the first time anyone other than the brother has accused Jose of sexual assault and rape.
This was a big problem during the brother’s trial. It was used to defend why they had to get rid of their father. They claim the attacks began in their childhood, and it’s unclear how long ago it took place, but it continued even into high school, according to testimony from both Lyle and Erik.
The brothers have tried several appeals against their case over the years without success; now Lyle, 55, and Erik, 52, might, just maybe, have some chance to cut back on life in prison and maybe actually enjoy some fresh air.

If the boys decide to use this information to help their appeal move along, they will have a lot of support. Over the years, the case has become a frenzy around him, with civil guards conducting their investigations.
Many believe the allegations of sexual assault and have called for the brothers, alleged victims themselves, to be released from prison. Not only did the super fans bash Kitty Menendez’s mom for allegedly turning a blind eye (according to the siblings), but because she allegedly dispensed pills and lived for money.
There is a good chance that anger will flare up again when people see the documents; after watching a trailer for the upcoming show, Roselló said, “That’s the guy here who raped me. That’s a pedophile,” while pointing at Jose’s photo.
Erik comments on the shocking news from the prison phone call. “It is sad to know that there is another victim of my father; I always hope and believe that one day the truth about my father will be revealed.”
Erik continued. “But I never expected it to happen like this… As a result of another child’s trauma.”
