A 25-year-old Texas woman has been found alive in Big Bend National Park after more than a week missing, just days after horrifying details of a man who ate tadpoles and drank from puddles to survive in the same park came to light.
Christy Perry has been missing since Nov. 9 and was found “awake and talking” Friday morning, according to the National Park Service.
Search teams closed the Missing Mine Trail where the car was located to search the area on foot and by helicopter.
His family had reported him missing when he returned from his camping trip.
Perry, who is just five feet two inches tall and 100 pounds, according to the missing poster, was taken to a hospital in Odessa and no other details about his condition were released.
“We are pleased to report a successful search and rescue operation in Big Bend National Park,” the NPS said in a statement.

“Our highly skilled team, in cooperation with outside law enforcement, safely located and rescued the missing pedestrian.”
The trail, which takes about three hours to complete, is in “mountain lion and black bear country,” with steep sections and a hot desert sun, the NPS warns.

At one point, he fell and broke his wrist but landed near a puddle that he stuck a straw in his water bottle to drink from.
He then finds a river and uses his hat to fish for tadpoles to eat.
The marketing executive was found after 27 hours and spent several days in hospital but recovered.
Others weren’t as lucky as Perry and Hahn.
In June, a father and his stepson died in the park, separated after the father went to get water for the 14-year-old who passed out in the heat.
