In response to Matthew McConaughey’s speculation that they might be blood relatives, American actor Woody Harrelson has asked for a DNA test to be taken to dispel any lingering doubts.
McConaughey recently stated that he and Harrelson may be related because his mother “knew” Harrelson’s father but refused to take a test because he didn’t want to lose his father.
Harrelson clarified his position by rejecting McConaughey’s reasoning, explaining that he could have a father and a brother.

Harrelson appeared on Tuesday’s edition of “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” where he discussed McConaughey’s revelations in depth and weighed in on the actor’s questionable paternity.
“Well, I’ll just say there’s some truth to that thought because we talked to Ma’ Mac, Matthew’s legal mother, and she told us one time… I mean, this is crazy. We were in Greece watching the US team win the World Cup, and I don’t know, I said something about regret,” he said.
The “True Detective” star added, “And I said, ‘You know, it’s odd that my father has no regrets.’ And I’ve known Ma’ Mac for a long time, and she said, ‘I know… your father.’ And it’s the ellipsis that I find the least bit disturbing or interesting. ‘I know your father.’”

He added, “My kids call him Uncle Woody. His children call me Uncle Matthew. And you see our pictures; my family thinks a lot of his pictures are me. His family thinks a lot of my pictures are of him.”

The actor’s doubts about his biological father’s identity were sparked by a puzzling message his mother shared about “knowing” Harrelson’s father when he was a child.
“In Greece a few years ago, we talked about how close we and our family are. And my mom was there, and she said, ‘Woody, I know your dad,'” McConaughey recounted.
“Everyone is aware of the ellipsis my mother left after ‘know.’ It is a loaded KNOW,” he added, referring to his suspicions of a sexual encounter between them.
The “Sing” star told Ripa, “We kept unpacking what this ‘knowing’ meant and did some math and found out that his dad was on vacation at the same time my mom and dad were going through their second divorce. Then there was the possibility of receipts and a place in Texas West where there might be gatherings, meetings or ‘new’ moments,” McConaughey teased.
