World-renowned climber makes nail-biting 6,600-foot ascent on limestone ridge

Footage captures the nail-biting moment a world-renowned climber traverses a thin limestone ridge while scaling a terrifying 6,624-foot mountain in eastern Switzerland.

Swiss extreme mountaineer Dani Arnold, 39, came across the ridge – which was no wider than his shoulder – about two hours into his six-hour trek up the Kreuzberg mountain, SWNS reported.

The video captures the terrifying moments the experienced climbers crashed into the “rare” rock formation with fellow climber Michi, 55.

Arnold, wearing a bright orange hoodie and beanie, can be seen climbing the unusually shaped mountain with care — at times hugging taller rocks as he maneuvers his body around the obstacle.

Aerial footage shows the skilled climber pulling himself up the tall, narrow rock with ease, barely taking a breather before continuing his ascent.

At one point during the heart-wrenching journey, Arnold stretched his arms in the air as he stepped across an unusually narrow section of uniquely shaped rock.

The three-minute video shows Arnold hoisting himself up another boulder with ease before shouting to his fellow climber below.

Following the incredible climb, Arnold said what made the experience special was how different the shape of the mountain was from what he was used to climbing.

“What is very unique is the large size of this stone. It was amazing to climb it,” he told SWNS.

“I really enjoyed it. You are very vulnerable when you are up there. Each stone is unique but it is nothing special,” he said, adding that the type of stone formation is “quite rare.”

The world-renowned mountaineer said he chose this particular climb because he had never done anything like it before.

“The climber took me one day including the approach. I chose it because I had never done it before.”

Arnold has broken several climbing and alpinism records and currently holds the world record for speed climbing.

In 2015, he completed the fastest solo ascent of the North Face of the legendary Matterhorn, completing it in less than two hours.

He holds two of the Matterhorn’s three North Face records and has broken several other records in Europe.
