Zayn Malik has broken his silence on his confrontation with his daughter’s grandmother, Yolanda Hadid, in which he pleaded no contest to four counts of harassment.

Reflecting on the alleged shoving incident during his appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Malik emphasized his reluctance to engage in online discussions or justify himself.
He said, “I don’t get involved when people talk online. The most precious thing to me is time and I don’t want to allow myself. I know what the situation is and I know what happened and the people involved know what happened and that’s all that matters.”
The “Pillowtalk” singer continued, “I don’t want to draw attention and I don’t want to talk negatively with him. [or] any kind of narrative for my daughter to finally read. I believe I handled it in the best possible way and that’s all there is to say. It’s a lot of negativity.” He added, “It’s a family issue that I prefer to keep in the family. I am very friendly with my son, if I could have 60 percent I would take it.”

Malik’s altercation with his daughter’s grandmother led to him being charged with four counts of harassment. He allegedly pushed Yolanda Hadid into a wardrobe and used derogatory language against her, calling her “the king of the Dutch sl*t.”

Malik emphasized his desire to give his daughter as much privacy as possible. He explained that he intended to protect her from the pressures of fame, as she did not choose that lifestyle for herself.

“I’m not protecting him from that because he’ll get to an age where he has a certain awareness and will know what’s going on,” he explained, per Daily Mail. “I tried to give him a choice and choose if he wants to stay away, he can come here. He will have many options and whatever he wants to do in life, he can do.”
Malik also revealed how much he values the time he spends with his daughter, saying, “When I’m with her, I’m not working. I spend the whole day with him doing the things he wants to do like painting, the garden, the zoo and having fun.”

He added, “I was really selfish wanting to be the first person to go and make my own record. I’m very brave and when it comes to my music, I’m serious and competitive and I want to be the first to do it.”
Malik also admitted that the group’s unique bond had been forged throughout their years together. “We have been together almost every day for five years. We were close and had to do crazy things together, which no one in the world would understand,” he recalled.
