Over the years, the public narrative surrounding Robin’s death has primarily focused on his struggle with depression and the effect it had on his mental health.

However, in a recent interview, Susan Schneider explained the all-out battle her late husband faced, stating that depression was one of the many causes of his death.

“It wasn’t depression that killed Robin,” Schneider said. “Depression is one of, let’s say, fifty symptoms, and it’s a small one. After the autopsy, the doctor said, ‘Are you surprised that your husband has Lewy bodies all over his brain and brainstem?’ I didn’t know what a Lewy body was, but I said: ‘No, I’m not surprised.’”

She continued, “The fact that something has infiltrated every part of my husband’s brain? That makes sense. It’s totally inappropriate for Robin to be paranoid. And that was the start of this 10-month drumbeat of increasing symptoms. And, the thing with LBD is that the symptoms don’t come all at once – they change. So they are very confusing for patients and caregivers.”
