Gris is my little sister. She never gives me my space. She always finds something to make me angry. On the other hand, my older sister, Rita, gives me my space and I am grateful for that. Rita is an energetic woman and a helpful person; she is also very reliable.
To begin with, Rita is an energetic woman. For instance, she always wakes up at 5:00 a.m. and exercises for 15 minutes in her bedroom. She works from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., teaching first-grade students at an elementary school. She has 36 little and pretty students, and she works very hard with them without getting tired or mad if they do not understand something. After work, she goes back home and revises her students’ homework. Then she goes for a one-hour walk in the park in her neighborhood while listening to the radio with her headphones. After having a long and hard day, she goes home to relax and get ready for the following day.
Besides being energetic, she is also a helpful person. For example, she helps me understand my composition and reading lessons whenever I need or ask for help. She also assists me with my homework; we study and work together for hours. Additionally, as she is older than me and a teacher herself, she helps me prepare for exams by helping me understand the subjects better, while I help her become a better teacher.
Most importantly, my sister Rita is reliable. For instance, she keeps my secrets when I confide in her; I am sure that she does not reveal any secrets to anyone else because of her honesty. I know I can trust her because last year when I was going to school and struggling with grammar class, I ended up failing my mid-term exam and was too scared to tell our mother; instead, I confided in Rita who has kept it confidential until this day. Moreover, I ask her for help whenever I have problems, whether it’s with my little sister, my boyfriend, or any other situation.

My sister has always been an influential part of my life. Even though she is older than me, I know I can always depend on her for support and encouragement. Although our parents were together, my sister and I did not have the most pleasant childhood. Our mother and father fought all the time. I did not really understand what was happening; however, my sister did and she tried her best to shield me from the fighting. She tried to keep me busy by suggesting that I spend time in our playroom or spend time outside. She was always there for me, and protected me like a big sister should.
As we got older I started going to my sister for advice on all the usual teenage topics: boys, clothes, and make-up. I wanted to be just like her, but my envy seemed to only irritate my sister when we were younger. I was the annoying little brat who would not leave her big sister alone. Luckily she did not let her feelings of annoyance prevent her from being a support structure for me. She gave me much needed guidance, often helped me with my homework, and inspired me to become the person I am today.
Even though we are older and I am no longer a child, I still go to my sister for reassurance and incite. She has been out of college for two years, but she is still very much the same big sister that I remember from our childhood….
