A 20-Year-Old Taylor Swift Fan Was Killed After ‘Eras Tour’ Performance, ‘Swifties’ Rally Around Family

An unforgettable night at a Taylor Swift concert soon turned tragic for one Texas family.

The 33-year-old singer’s first tour in half a decade has been a much-anticipated event for his fans. Poor ticket management courtesy of Ticketmaster will soon result in legal action after they went on sale in November, leaving many ‘Swifties’ unable to get tickets.

A 20-year-old fan died at the scene.

According to Page Six, Lewis’ sister, April Bancroft, was driving their car. He was injured as a result of the incident and later received treatment for his injuries, per 107.5 The River. The duo has gone to Swift’s concert together.

Alan Bryant Hayes, the man who had hit Lewis, fled the scene on foot. He was charged with “third offense driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and render aid” after he was eventually found and arrested.

A Swiftie later shared a screenshot of Lewis’ father’s Facebook status, recalling the incident.

Mr Lewis wrote, “We lost our son Jacob Lewis early Saturday morning. On the way home from a Taylor Swift concert, April Bancroft and Jacob have car trouble on the highway. They made it to the shoulder, and Jacob was pushing the car to a nearby exit when they were in the back,” he continued. “Yakub died instantly. The driver fled the scene but was later arrested by the police. April only had minor bruises and scratches.”

Mr. Lewis then shared some insight into the type of person his son is.

“Jacob left this world too soon. After taking a short time off this year to work at Chic-Fil-A, she will begin her second year in the musical theater program at Sam Houston State University this fall. She has already excelled in theater, choir, and dance during her High School years, and we look forward to exciting new adventures and successes.”

“Jacob is passionate about his studies, friends, and hobbies. He enjoys being a Dungeon Master to catch up with his friends in Dungeons and Dragons. He likes to play Kirby, Sonic, Mario, Portal and Zelda video games. He likes reading novels and comic books, watching videos on YouTube and listening to music. He loves to play and sing music,” Mr. Lewis concluded.

Houston’s Pokémon community and Swifties came together to help the Lewis family. As of this writing, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $2,000 since it was created four days ago!
