Adam Levine Revs Up Legal War Over Alleged Bogus Car Purchase

Adam Levine has had his day in court!

Nearly six months after he was accused of cheating on his pregnant wife, Behati Prinsloo, with a social media model, Levine is suing a classic car dealer for allegedly selling him a fake version of a 1971 Maserati. The rare vintage vehicle is said to be worth $1 million.

Adam Levine Sues Car Dealer After Unknowingly Buying Fake Vintage Vehicle

Levine’s troubles began in late 2020 after he traded two Ferraris to Rick Cole — a classic car dealer — for what he believed to be the only 1971 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 Liter Spyders ever produced. The “Payphone” smartphone maker is trading a 1968 Ferrari and a 1972 Ferrari for $100,000 cash to a car dealer, bringing its bid up to $950,000.

Unfortunately, it turns out that only 25 of the Maserati Ghibli 4.9 Liter Spyders were ever made, making Cole’s version of the singer a fake. To that end, a lawsuit has been filed by the Adam Levine Living Trust, alleging that Cole or his staff falsified documents regarding the vintage car, including falsifying any details that Levine could use to identify it.

It wasn’t until the “Girls Like You” singer was trying to sell what was said to be a limited edition car to another car dealership, Autosport Designs, that she made a shocking discovery. Fortunately, the car dealership had previously sold a vehicle with the same vehicle identification number (VIN) that the 43-year-old had obtained from Cole.

British luxury car collector Clive Joy bought a Maserati with that VIN a few years ago. It also didn’t help when Levine discovered later that the Maserati he was selling had been pulled from auction five years ago over concerns that it might not be genuine, per Daily Mail.

In addition, the Grammy Award winner’s lawyer claimed that he had believed the car dealer’s word that the Maserati was authentic because he was “not involved in the classic car business at all.” “The subsequent inspection and investigation found that the vehicle was not genuine. Cole never disclosed any of this … withholding this information in order to get a large sum of money from the sale,” the lawsuit declares.

The lawsuit has accused Cole of negligent misrepresentation, fraudulent concealment, willful misrepresentation and breach of contract. Meanwhile, on his website, Cole touts his skills as an “internationally recognized sales agent, auctioneer and appraiser of investment-grade cars.”

There is also a photo of the dealer, who claims to have over five decades of experience with the OFTA Television Award winner, along with a photo of the Ferrari 275, on the website. Levine has asked the court to void his agreement with Cole or have the dealer compensate him to make things right.

The Blast reported earlier this month that Levine’s cheating scandal resurfaced during an episode of Alexandra Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast. In the released trailer, Cooper is heard saying to his guest, Adam Devine:

“I’m a huge fan of Maroon 5 and I’m glad you agreed to sit down with me today and discuss the infidelity scandal in your marriage. How many times have you cheated on a woman you met on Instagram?”

The video, which is covered by a black screen, also includes Levine singing the lyrics to his 2002 hit “She Will Be Loved.” In case you missed it, some people mistook Devine for Levine at the height of the drama.

The “Pitch Perfect” actor even sparked controversy when he took to Instagram to post a photo of himself and his beloved wife, Chloe Bridges, with the caption:

“Just wanted to post this and say that my wife @chloebridges and I are doing our best and going strong. I’m not Adam Levine. He’s a different man and a worse singer. We are however naming our future baby Sumner.”

His last statement was about social media model Sumner Stroh, who initially accused Levine of cheating on his wife with him in a viral TikTok video. The clip also features a screenshot showing how the singer plans to name her unborn baby after him.

The father-of-three has since denied any claims that he stepped out on his wife during their ten-year marriage.
