Adele had a good night Sunday, as she won the 2023 Grammy award for best pop solo performance for “Easy on Me,” from her album “30.” Despite advice from her boyfriend Rich Paul not to cry on stage, Adele gushed sweetly, after her “new best friend” Dwayne Johnson presented her with the award.

Trevor Noah was playing introductions at the 65th Grammys when he decided Adele and Dwayne Johnson needed to be introduced to each other. In the filmed interaction, Noah approaches Adele’s table and recalls how she mentioned that she had never met Dwayne Johnson but really wanted to. When Adele confirmed the same, Noah said that while he doesn’t have someone called “Dwayne Johnson” there, he does have someone called “The Rock.”
Johnson then walked behind her seat and greeted her with her usual smile and a hug, and Adele seemed overjoyed at the encounter.
Noah said, “Adele met The Rock, The Rock met Adele! Well, you two are getting to know each other, we need to keep the show moving!”
As the camera pans away, Johnson is seen taking a seat next to the 16-time Grammy winner, as her boyfriend Rich Paul looks on a little “awkwardly”. The Twitter meme factory went live soon after and we have to admit, some of these were ROFL.

Adele Presents Grammys By “New Best Friend” Dwayne Johnson

Jokingly, Adele’s boyfriend Rich Paul looked totally in love with his girl as she took to the stage to collect her Grammy. She recounted her boyfriend’s advice on stage, saying that Paul had told her: “if you win anything, don’t cry. And here I am crying!”
Before Adele’s acceptance speech, Dwayne Johnson took the stage to present an award celebrating “excellence in individual performance.” Along with Adele, nominees include Bad Bunny, Doja Cat, Steve Lacy, Lizzo and Harry Styles. As Johnson announced the winner as Adele, he exclaimed, “Get up here, new best friend” in reference to how host Trevor Noah started Sunday night by pointing out that Adele was dying to meet the former wrestler.
A delighted but slightly shocked Adele got up to accept her award, hugging her boyfriend Rich Paul, and fellow musician Lizzo, as Styles and other guests rose to praise the British singer. She walked on stage looking stunning and received a hug and kiss on the cheek from “The Rock,” as she began her acceptance speech in a slightly tearful voice, saying, “Okay, Thank you!”

The 34-year-old singer took to the stage to first say “I really can’t wait to come tonight,” She became emotional later, breaking down in tears as she said, “I just want to dedicate this to my son, Angelo.”
He went on to talk about his 10-year-old son, saying, “I wrote this first sentence in the shower when I chose to change my son’s life,” he explained.
The verse he recites is “There’s no gold in this river / That I’ve washed my hands forever / I know there’s hope in these waters / But I can’t bring myself to swim / When I’m drowning in this loneliness / Baby, let me in.”
In an October 2021 interview, Adele said that her album “30” and the song “Easy on Me” were her explanation to her son, saying, “I want to explain to her through this record, when she’s in her twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to unravel her entire life in pursuit of my own happiness.At the time, Adele had separated from her ex-husband, Simon Konecki, and had since gone on a weight loss journey that made her absolutely stunning in her new form.
Adele also mentioned how her son has been her strongest support in her acceptance speech, saying, “He’s been nothing but humble and loving and loved me all the time.”
