Ailing mom of Hamas hostage Noa Argamani hopes for last hug with her before it’s too late

The mother of cancer-stricken Noa Argamani, who became the face of the Hamas hostage crisis, is hoping for a last chance to hug her daughter before she succumbs to the disease.

Argamani’s mother, Liora, fears time is running out for a reunion before she loses her battle with advanced brain cancer – and is desperate to hug her daughter one last time, her family told the Jerusalem Post.

“This disease is very serious, developing rapidly. I really hope that time will not run out for him to see Noa,” Noa’s aunt Yaffe Ohad told the outlet as her tears welled up.

“I have seen him for four months, and I know that his emotional state greatly affects his physical state. And I am very worried about his life. The longer Noa doesn’t come back, the worse the effect is,” he said.

Argamani, 26, has been held by terrorists since he was kidnapped during a trance music festival near the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7.

He was captured on video being taken away on a motorcycle by Palestinian gunmen shouting, “Don’t kill me! No no no!” while her boyfriend, Avinatan Or, was manhandled by terrorists.

Her mother, Liora, who has advanced brain cancer, has appealed for help to free her daughter.

In December, his mother, Liora, appealed to President Biden.

“I am terminally ill with stage 4 brain cancer,” he wrote in a letter. “All that crossed my mind before I parted from my family forever was the opportunity to hug my daughter, my only child, for the last time.”

Noa’s mother, Liora Argamani, has advanced brain cancer and hopes she can see her daughter one last time.

Ohad said, “Liora is waiting, hoping that she will be able to see him, with him even if only for an hour – to hug him and then say goodbye.”

The aunt and other hostages’ families were in Geneva on Tuesday to meet with United Nations officials, as well as Mirjana Spoljaric, head of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told the family last week that “real efforts” were being made to secure the release of the hostages but it was too early to say how that would be achieved.

The world watched in horror as Argamani was seen crying to her boyfriend as he was taken away on a motorcycle by terrorists who attacked the Supernova rave on October 7. “We need to live in peace and reach an agreement, to continue to live (in peace),” Ohad told the news channel. “Because war always leads to suffering and sorrow.”

Israeli intelligence has concluded that at least 32 of the 136 hostages believed to be still being held in Gaza have died – more than officials had previously stated, The New York Times reported on Tuesday.

Last month, Noa was seen in a video released by Hamas in which he revealed that Yossi Sharabi and Itai Svirsky had been killed in captivity.

Noa Argamani, 26, appeared on video for the first time since he was kidnapped by Hamas on Oct. 7.

He said he was held in a building with two of his hostages by Hamas’ military wing when the site was hit by Israeli airstrikes.

“It was bombed by IDF airstrikes, F16 fighter jets,” Noa said in the video. “Three rockets were fired. Two of the rockets exploded, and the other did not.

“We were inside the building with Al Qassam soldiers and three hostages: Myself, Noa Argamani, Itai Svirsky, and Yossef Sharabi,” he added.

“After the building we were in was hit, we were all buried under the rubble. Al Qassam soldiers saved my life, and Itai’s. Unfortunately, we couldn’t save Yossi,” said Noa.

“After a few days … two nights, Itai and I were transferred to another place. While we were being transported, Itai was hit by an IDF airstrike. He did not survive,” he said, blaming the Israel Defense Forces.

IDF spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari denied that an Israeli airstrike killed the two men and described the propaganda video as a “lie” by Hamas.
