Drummer Aaron Spears has died at the age of 47.
No cause of death has been announced at this time. The DC-based musician has played with Ariana Grande, Britney Spears, and Usher. He earned a Grammy nomination in 2004 for his work on Usher’s album “Confessions.” He was also the music coordinator and drummer for season 3 of the Fox reality series “The Masked Singer.”
Aaron Spears’ Family Announced His Death On Monday Morning
A statement posted on the musician’s Instagram page on Monday morning confirmed his departure.
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I share the news of the passing of my beloved husband, Aaron Spears,” read a statement posted on his wife Jessica’s Instagram page. “Aaron is not only a very successful drummer, admired by many for his unparalleled talent and passion for music, but he is also a devoted father to our precious son, August.”
“His love, guidance, and warmth are the pillars of our family, and his absence leaves a void that cannot be described in words,” the statement continued. “We are blessed to have him in our lives, and his legacy will live on through the beautiful rhythms he created and the love he shared with us. We appreciate all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
The statement concluded, “Please remember Aaron for the incredible person and amazing music he brought to the world. At this time, we ask for privacy as we work through this.”
Ariana Grande was one of the first to comment, writing, “Broken Heart. My condolences to you all. I love you all and I’m sorry. My heart is with you.”
Questlove wrote “I can’t believe this…” while singer India Carney added, “Oh my gosh! We miss you, Aaron. Thank you for the kindness and support you showed me while I was working with you. Even before I met you in person, I knew you radiated positivity. My love and condolences to your family.”

The “Wicked” actress took to her Instagram Stories to pay tribute to the late musician.
“I can’t wrap my head around this,” he wrote. “We are all very lucky to have known Aaron. The absolute light of the brightest human. Always the best, always smiling. I am very honored and grateful that our paths crossed and that we have spent such a special time together.”
“Thank you for your brilliance, for our laughter, and for your kindness always. I will miss your hugs. You are very, very loved and will be greatly missed,” he concluded.

Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker also took to his Instagram Stories to pay tribute to the late musician following his sudden death. “My heart is broken. Your friendship means the world to me. You inspired me to fall back in love with drummers after my accident,” she wrote. “It wouldn’t have been the same without you.”
“Like we always say, I love you, my brother,” she concluded with a praying hands emoji.
