Gabby Windey and Erich Schwer, who got engaged on “The Bachelor: After the Last Rose,” ended their engagement just weeks after the finale aired.
Windey was seen without an engagement ring on her finger during several performances of “Dancing With the Stars” and fans began to speculate about the breakup. Then, a few weeks later, Gabby talked about the breakup during a different episode of the reality competition show, after her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, revealed they would be dancing a waltz routine to Des’ree’s “I Am Kissing You.”
“For me, it holds a special place because I just went through a breakup,” Gabby told Val. “The end of our relationship happened because we weren’t completely in sync with each other on our shared goals or our approach to life. We are not the best match for each other.”

During an episode of “Podcast Click Bait with Bachelor Nation,” co-hosted by Bachelor alumni Joe Amabile and Natasha Parker, Gabby was asked if she and Erich were still in touch after their breakup.
“Straight to the point!,” Gabby joked before adding, “I think naturally — I think we ended up pretty good.”
She continued, “There’s always a time when you don’t talk to your ex afterwards [a breakup], but I don’t want him to get hurt at all. I really think it’s unfortunately not the right time for us.”
The “Dancing With the Stars” runner-up went on to explain how the two are at different places in their lives. “I think you don’t realize the bubble you’re in until you try to make the relationship work outside of the show… There’s a lot more learning after you leave the bubble, and I think we’re just in two very different places in our lives.”
Overall, there are no hard feelings between the two.
Erich Grateful For Time With Gabby

Shortly after Gabby opened up about the breakup on “Dancing With the Stars,” Erich took to his Instagram Story to talk about his sobriety.
“Many of you have contacted me with questions about me and Gabby,” he began. “The reality is that we end up being nobody else — it’s hard when there’s not one thing to go with.”
The 29-year-old went on to explain how meeting on the reality show was a “unique” situation, but he will always be grateful that Gabby came into his life. “We met in a very unique situation and in a very unique way and I’m thankful we did. I will not take it back,” continued Erich. “Gabby is an amazing person and she does amazing things. I will always look up to him and I hope he gives them hell in the DWTS finale.”
Erich Schwer was caught up in several controversies as the climax of “The Bachelor” approached — including the Blackface controversy as well as leaked text messages that showed Erich had a girl at home before filming “The Bachelorette.” In his message to his fans on Instagram, he said, “I have learned and grown so much this year from experiences and mistakes and I continue to improve myself every day. I hope to spend this time with my family and loved ones and focus on myself.”
He concluded, “I’ve been working hard the last few months and I’m excited to finally share it with you all.”
