Bad Bunny And Other Musicians Donate To Buy A New Home For Survivor Of Uvalde Shooting

Latin star Bad Bunny and several other reggaeton musicians have donated to help Mayah Zamora and her family buy a new home. Ten-year-old Zamora was one of the survivors of the recent Uvalde school shooting. The Correa Family Foundation opened a fundraiser for his family after he refused to return home because of the proximity to the shooter’s home.

The foundation announced that they had raised enough money at a Houston Astros baseball game in Houston, where Zamora threw out the first pitch. They also thanked Bad Bunny’s Good Bunny foundation and reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel for their “generous donations”.

Bad Bunny also recently hosted Zamora and his family at his concert on September 9 in Texas. The Correa Family Foundation posted a photo on Instagram of the singer posing with the little girl backstage as she held merchandise signed by him and smiled brightly.

Mayah Zamora Is A Survivor Of The Uvalde Shooting

10-year-old Zamora was an active member of his school’s robotics club and was also an Honor Roll student until his life changed on May 24, 2022. That day, a gunman entered his Robb Elementary school, killing 19 students and two teachers and wounding 17 others.

Zamora required more than 20 surgeries for gunshot wounds to his hands, back, arms and chest. He stayed in the hospital for more than 66 days and, when he woke up, found the shooter living just a few blocks from his home. follow MLB.comZamora then refused to go home because of the fear and trauma caused by the shooter.

Bad Bunny Donates To Fundraiser

The Correa Family Foundation learned of Zamora’s situation and opened a fundraiser to help Zamora and his family find a new home in an area where he feels safe. Puerto Rican musician Bad Bunny later donated to the cause through his Good Bunny foundation, although the amount he donated remained private.

Several other celebrities donated to the fundraiser for Zamora, including reggaeton duo Wisin and Yandel and TokenSociety.io co-founders James and Korrine Whipkey and Scott H. Weissman. Eventually, the foundation raised enough money to build a new home for Zamora.

The Foundation Has Raised Sufficient Money

In an Aug. 24 Instagram post, the Correa Family Foundation announced that it had finally raised enough money for the new home. The post read, “We have secured funding to build Mayah and her family a new home in a location where she feels safe and comfortable. We hope this will be an opportunity for Mayah and her family to rebuild their lives, create new memories and look towards a bright future.”

On August 23, Zamora threw out the first pitch at a Houston Astros baseball game, where he met Correa himself. At the pre-match, Correa spoke to the press and said, “And the Mayah story is a difficult story when it happens. It hit us hard at home.”

Correa continued, “I texted Enrique right away and I said, ‘We have to figure out how to help these kids.’ And he happened to connect with Mayah and her family, and we’re here for Mayah and her family and whatever they need.”

Bad Bunny Hosts Zamora And His Family

The “Me porto bonito” singer also hosted Zamora and his family at his Texas concert on September 9. The Correa Foundation posted some cute backstage photos on Instagram of Zamora posing and smiling with Bad Bunny and holding autographed merchandise from the singer.

The foundation thanked the singer for the invitation and the special memories he gave to Zamora. The message read, Big thanks to @badbunnypr for welcoming our Hero of the Month, Mayah Zamora, to your concert and for making sure she had a wonderful and fun night dancing with her family!”

The post concluded with, “All the love he received from you and your team @noahassad @rimas made this an incredible experience that he and his family will cherish.”
