News of the country singer moving on and getting engaged following his divorce from Tish Cyrus first broke in September.
However, the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer has not commented on the news until now, and she opened up about how she connected with the young singer and the sweet bond they share.

For the first time since getting engaged, the “Old Town Road” singer confirmed that she and Firerose will walk down the aisle. Although he didn’t give exact details about the marriage, Billy talked about his blossoming new romance and how the “good” new love came after the “bad” period of his divorce.

The 61-year-old shared how he and the young Australian singer first bumped into each other. She told People Magazine that they had known each other for about 12 years after meeting on the set of the movie “Hannah Montana” in Los Angeles. Billy, who loves the Disney series, credits his German Shepherd Tex for introducing him to his now-fiancé.
“There are some old pine trees in the lot that look like Tennessee. Tex and I would go over there at noon, and he would take care of his business, and we would stretch, and I would think how much I missed Tennessee,” he said. ” One particular day, Firerose came out the front door. There was almost a moment, I don’t know, recognition. I was like, ‘This girl is a star.'”
Although Billy didn’t know Firerose, the young songstress with an age difference of over 20 years knew her, considering she was a country music icon. When he comes to say hello to Tex, he and Billy chat, and that’s where their friendship begins.
After Firerose told the “Butterfly Fly Away” singer that she was auditioning, he offered to introduce her to a producer and give her a chance to watch actors rehearse in hopes that it might lead to a role for her. However, he gave her some advice.

Opening up about how the pandemic has been dark for him, Billy shared that not living life as a “touring artist” put him in a tough spot, but he’s been saved by his now fiancee. In his words:
“At the same time, Firerose, who was once a positive light, a good friend. And then when we started sharing music, it just grew into, as musical soul mates, to soul mates, happy, genuine love that to me, I don’t know can exist.”
He explained that he and Firerose were musicians first before lovers. The Australian singer then opened up about how her older lover popped the question. He revealed that it happened in August but without the ring or bended knee.
“Billy looked at me and said, ‘Do you, do you want to marry me?’ And I was like, ‘Of course I do. I love you,” he remembers his heart. “He said, ‘I love you. I want to make this official. I want to be with you forever.’”
At the time, the outlet reported that Billy’s family, especially his daughter Miley Cyrus, was not on board with the new romance. However, the patriarch denies such a narrative now. “
