Dr. Howard-John Wesley was born on April 19, 1972. He is the son of the late Rev. Dr. Alvin J. Wesley and Dr. Helen J. Wesley. Interestingly, he is the 4th generation in his family, who has become a Baptist minister. He is a 1994 magna cum laude graduate of Duke University.
He has dual degrees in Electrical and Biomedical Engineering. Dr. Howard-John Wesley surrendered to God’s call again after his first year in medical school. He left the medical profession to attend seminary.
He majored in Biblical Studies & African-American religious history at Boston University School of Theology. At that time, Dr. Howard-John Wesley is a Martin L. King scholar and also a 1997 summa-cum-laude alumnus.
His curiosity to preach and learn led John to the Associated Chicago Theological School’s Doctor in Ministry in Preaching Program. There, he received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2003.
