“Kandi & The Gang” is a new BravoTV reality show with a similar idea to “Vanderpump Rules.” However, it differs from the last show in one area: gay men. The show follows the controversy at Atlanta-based diner Old Lady Gang (OLG), whose owner is Kandi Burruss of the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
The new show has been a hit because of its incredible cast, which includes members of the LGBTQ+ community who are also Kandi employees.
“When I realized that we were doing something different from everyone else during that commercial [for ‘Kandi & the Gang] out,” talking about the show Kandi told PageSix.
“I see people in the comments saying, ‘Wow, this is the dope they’re showing and I think it’s included now.’ I was like, ‘Wow,’” Kandi added. “We all exist, right? But we are not necessarily all represented when it comes to television. So let’s go to ‘Kandi & The Gang.’ We will make everyone feel at home.”
One of the show’s actors is Brian Redmond. He’s a former head bartender at OLG who now works as a waiter. Brian, the consummate entertainer, had everyone laughing at their table and also on stage, where he did stand-up comedy. Brian started his own business outside of the restaurant and he is excited to incorporate his specialty dishes into the OLG menu.
In addition to the three, other actors joining the show are Kandi’s mother, Mama Joyce, and two aunts Nora and Bertha. We also got to meet DonJuan Clark, Kandi’s right-hand man, restaurant developer Phillip Frempong, self-proclaimed original host Shawndreca Robinson, “day one” bartender Dom’Unique Variety, OLG manager Brandon Black, parking lot manager and Kandi’s cousin Patrick Dallas , event manager Torin Mitchell, kitchen manager Melvin jones, and host Rashard Roles.
On January 21, 2022, he announced on his Instagram, “Ooommgggg!!!! It’s here!! Fasten your seat belt dear!!!! #kandiandthegang @kandi @todd167 @donjuannc @bravotv @bravoandy @lhlawson18 thank uuuuuuuuuuu”.
