Britney Spears’ Former Assistant Speaks Out On 2007 Head Shaving Incident

Pop star Britney Spears’ former assistant talks about her 2007 haircut incident amid the release of her memoir, “The Woman In Me,” on Oct. 24, 2023.

The now 41-year-old pop star shaved her head in 2007 while a photographer snapped pictures through a salon window. A few days later, he was seen attacking a photographer’s car with an umbrella. These events eventually led to a court-ordered conservatorship, which began in February 2008 and lasted until November 2021.

Reflecting on the 2007 viral incident, Britney’s former assistant Sean Phillip described her as a “sad person” in an interview with Good Morning Britain on Tuesday, per the Daily Mail. “For me personally, I saw a sad person… I was worried for him, I felt protective of him at the time,” Sean said. “It’s not work anymore. It is protection in the form of friendship.”

Sean told hosts Richard Madeley and Kate Garraway that he had actually tried to get Britney help right after the incident by taking her to a mental health facility. However, he refused to enter.

“We were told that she was sued by her ex-husband, Kevin Federline and we had to take her to a facility and she agreed to go to a facility and we left,” she said. “But he had to check in voluntarily and when we got there, he didn’t want to do it and nobody could force him to do it.”

“He came and we had a long discussion, a very emotional discussion between him, his father and some other people. That was basically the last time I saw him,” explained Sean. “He walked out the front door with his father, turned around, said, ‘I love you’ and ‘Goodbye’. I felt a certain way, I felt like it was goodbye. “

“I don’t know what will happen after that, there is no information about the ongoing legal matters and what will happen after that. Things got worse, worse, after that,” he revealed.

During the interview, Sean revealed that Britney often approached strangers and recalled an incident with some surfers on the beach with Malibu. Sean speculated that Britney would approach anyone for a conversation because she “just wants friends.”

“The problem with Britney having friends is that a lot of people want to be friends with Britney for the wrong reasons. Certain people that day were good men who looked after him, they called me and I picked him up,” said Sean. “I’ll see things on the news and see him with people I don’t know, who I’ve never met. I’m worried people will take advantage of it.”

When Sean was asked about “Sign” actor Mel Gibson reportedly offering to help Britney at the time, Sean replied, “He wanted to give her guidance.”

“I got a lot of interesting phone calls during that time,” he explained. “There are so many people who want to help, their hearts are in the right place but it’s too chaotic…’All I need is five minutes with him.’”

When asked if he’ll be reading Britney’s new memoir, “The Woman In Me,” which is now officially available in stores, Sean said that he hasn’t decided yet. However, he said that he was happy that Britney finally got the chance to tell her own story.

As for the “Toxic” singer, she opened up about her experience shaving her own head, and why she did it, in her memoir. “I have been an eyeball growing up. I’ve been looked up and down and had people tell me what they thought of my body since I was a teenager. Shaving my head and acting is my way of refusing,” he wrote in an excerpt published by People magazine a week before the book was released.

Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman In Me” was officially released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.
