The family recently issued a statement addressing the brutal murder of four students. It read, “First of all, we are deeply concerned for the four families who lost their precious children. No words can express the sadness we feel, and we pray every day for them. We will continue to let the legal process unfold and as a family, we will love and support our son and brother.”
The family’s statement concluded, “We have cooperated fully with law enforcement agencies in seeking the truth and promoting the presumption of his innocence rather than judging unknown facts and making false assumptions. We respect privacy in this matter so that our family and the bereaved family can move forward through the legal process.”
The statement was released by Kohberger’s attorney, Jason A. LaBar, chief public defender of Monroe County, Pennsylvania, on behalf of the Kohbergers.
Four University of Idaho students were killed, and Philadelphia resident Bryan Christopher Kohberger was arrested as a suspect in the case. Bryan, a 28-year-old Pennsylvania man, was arrested Friday in Monroe County. According to the criminal complaint, Moscow, the Idaho Police Department, and the Latah County District Attorney’s Office issued active arrest warrants for alleged first-degree murder.
Sources told CNN that an FBI surveillance team had been monitoring the suspect near his place of detention for several days. Law enforcement sources said that Bryan drove the Elantra across the country and arrived at his parents’ home in Pennsylvania just before Christmas. Law enforcement sources claim that agents followed Kohberger across the country and continued to check his parents’ home.
