‘Call Her Daddy’ Host Alex Cooper’s Wedding Planning Is No ‘Scavenger Hunt’ Like Her Engagement

Alex Cooper is going all out for his big day!

Months after her man, Matt Kaplan, popped the question in an “incredible” way that saw him fake a photo shoot with a magazine, the podcast host has shared details about their upcoming nuptials. As he revealed, he spared no expense to ensure that the event reflected him in all its forms and activities, without hunting.

Alex Cooper Had Thoughts About His Wedding Location

On Wednesday, August 23, Cooper debuted a new episode of his popular podcast, “Call Her Daddy,” titled “My Wedding Planning Disaster.” In this edition, online influencers openly share their personal insights into the wedding preparation journey, covering positive and challenging experiences as well as less glamorous aspects.

The 29-year-old started the show looking a little disheveled as she sat in her bathtub, wearing a hood and sipping a glass of red wine. After revealing that she was “fidgety” and “going through a mental breakdown,” she shared the wedding venues she and Kaplan had previously considered, including places like Utah, London and Tennessee.

While discussing the possibility of Hawaii as a location, the “Unwell” founder mentioned that he prefers a private beach to avoid any onlookers during their big day. He playfully said:

“I don’t need Uncle Marty on his retirement trip in the background snorkeling holding a Pina colada in my picture. Matt and I were kissing and there was this guy, toned stomach, nice frozen tips, having a mid-life crisis in the ocean. It’s not what I want.”

Next, Cooper delves into his guilt over observing other people’s weddings, stressing his desire to avoid holding their own weddings “where the ceremony could be observed by the public.”

“We want it to be somewhere that’s important to us and we don’t want to cater to our guests,” the podcaster gushes before revealing that he and his producer bae have decided on a tropical wedding.

However, he was quick to inform the audience, often referred to as the “Dad Gang,” that he “could lie and this could change in 30 years. [minutes] when Matt comes home.” Admitting the look of a wedding destination in a photo is one of her location checkpoints, she reflects:

“I plan the wedding through the lens of Instagram and my wedding magazine coverage. I’m looking for things that aren’t mine. I’m looking for a good photo op. I realized I needed to start practicing what I preach…stop making decisions based on what other people will see and the photo.”

Copper closed the episode with some much-needed advice to his viewers about doing what they can to enjoy their wedding planning and to get zen before he added:

“Because contrary to what everyone writes on the internet and I don’t know if this will get a reaction for me, I don’t think this should be the best day of your life. I think your wedding should be amazing and you should look forward to life, but on that day, you put too much pressure on it.”

Back in April, The Blast observed that Cooper didn’t hold back in recounting the events leading up to the moment he met his fiancée on one knee. Recounting the details during the interview, the radio host shared that Kaplan proposed at their Los Angeles residence on March 3, after he was lured out of the house for “filming.”

Although she remembers feeling like the shooting was directionless and “could tell everyone was stopping,” she didn’t stop it. continue with it. As fate would have it, she later found out that it “was a fake photo shoot done by me and Matt’s publicist to keep me out of the house, wearing sweatpants and hair, makeup and nails so I could feel good about the pictures.”

When he returned to his and Kaplan’s house that evening, the scene had turned into the most romantic scene with “candles lit, music playing, and a chase that led to Matt proposing.” The Boston University alum soon discovered that each room had a set theme, complete with momentos and photos to match.

Arriving in the final room, Cooper was greeted with “a glass of champagne and a card” and a brief instruction – “Meet me by the Buddha.” The sight he found there he will never forget, he recounted:

“He got down on one knee and said, “You are my soulmate, the love of my life. You make me a better man. Please do me the honor of marrying me.” I like it, blacked out. I think I said yes at first. It was very real.”
