On Tuesday, the “Jesus, Take The Wheel” singer shared a glamorous photo of Loretta Lynn in a red dress, leaning on a support beam while strumming her guitar.

“The first time I met Loretta Lynn was at the Grand Ole Opry early in my career,” Carrie began. “I was chatting in the corner with another artist and someone walked up behind me and hit me on the back! I turned and there she was…in a big sparkly dress…laughing as she continued walking down the aisle at what she had just done…”

“This is one of my favorite stories to tell. I think it sums up his personality well,” he continued. “She’s an outspoken little gun…friendly and sweet…never afraid to be herself and speak her mind.”

“Over the years, I’ve had the honor of singing for him…and with him…in some of the most special moments of my career,” he said. “He is irreplaceable. He will be greatly missed…but his legacy lives on in those of us he has influenced.”
