He explained that the close bond they shared shone through the tragedy of his painful death. “Despite the pain of losing him, now I can still have this beautiful spirit relationship with him. She shared that she met Chadwick shortly after she filmed “Get On Up.” It was at a James Brown tribute concert, and he was working at the Hollywood Bowl when it happened.

She remembers Chadwick being “very respectful” trying to flirt with her in the sweetest way. In Simone’s words, “We were on the side of the stage at one point, and I don’t think he knew if I really caught his cue. And he randomly just bent down and untied one of my shoelaces … as a little joke.”

He continued, “And I said, ‘Oh, OK, so this is flirting, this is him flirting with me.’ And then he came back down and said, ‘Oh, I’m sorry.’ He came back down, and he untied my shoelaces.” Simone admits she fell in love with the “21 Bridges” star quickly and the rest is history.

Talking about her husband’s extraordinary personality, she said, “I just realized that I can really trust him. He doesn’t walk into anything with his eyes closed. And I know I can follow him off the edge of the cliff because he has a plan, you know?”
