The actor who played the one-armed tyrant in the 2015 film also stars Tom Hardy, Nicholas Hoult, and Zoe Kravitz. In an interview with Hollywood Reporterthe actor was candid about not returning for the role in the announced Furiosa sequel that will star Taylor-Joy
Furious, the prequel title coming out in 2024 is highly anticipated but Theron is more focused on not getting a phone call from Taylor-Joy about taking over the role. “Who wants to pick up the phone and say, like, ‘Hey, we’re going to go do this without you?’”
When asked directly if Taylor-Joy contacted her, Theron said, “No, but I understand that. It’s always complicated.”
“Nobody wants to do that. So, I fully understand,” he stressed.
Charlize Theron Plays With George Miller

Some fans believe that Theron was not asked back because of the difficult time working with George Miller. He has openly said that he doesn’t trust directors in 2020 but fast forward to today and he is singing a different song.
“I love George. I know I will talk to him again. I think it’s too difficult,” he insists, insisting that he has no hard feelings towards the director or anyone from the film. He also had great things to say out of the blue about Taylor-Joy.
“One of the great actresses is picking up something I can only imagine.”

While he praised Taylor-Joy, he added that Mad Max was “difficult” to film. “I’ve never done anything that requires that kind of endurance, and I don’t think I ever will [again],” he admitted still believing that the production of Furiosa was not that difficult.
“I don’t know how the production was on the prequel, but I want to believe it was less. And I hate to say this because I never want to encourage young actors or storytellers to believe that they need trauma or sacrifice because I really don’t believe you do, but there’s a little bit about the circumstances surrounding the film that I think gives it magic.”
He went on to say that he didn’t think it had to be that way. “It doesn’t mean it always has to be that way, but I think somehow that lightning in a bottle that you’re always trying to capture happens in the film. But, man, it is very difficult.”
Charlize Theron Knows Hollywood Is Different

The actress who has been working in the industry for more than 20 years admits that it is very different from what used to happen and that those who once had influence, no longer. “They have very different skills, but if you’re Kim Kardashian, you’re probably going to get a lot more,” she said of the influence.
She believes that new Hollywood like Taylor-Joy and reality stars like Kardashian are where it’s at right now.
“We live in the age of reality television, and God knows I love me some reality TV. So, the market that Kim Kardashian represents — and not in a negative way because I watch everything she does — has a higher value than what Meryl Streep does, one of the greatest actresses working. And that’s the truth.”
Maybe he thought his time was up in Hollywood?
