According to reports, on Friday, a judge denied the request of famous singer Cher for the immediate conservatorship of her son, Elijah Blue Allman, 47 years old.
Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui of the Los Angeles Superior Court reportedly found that Cher’s lawyers did not provide Elijah and his lawyers with the necessary paperwork to give them enough time to present their case. The judge has now set a new trial date for January 29.
The decision came after Elijah filed an opposition to his mother’s Ex Parte, stating that he was not served with sufficient papers, which would have given him and his legal counsel enough time to prepare for the Jan. 5 hearing on his conservatorship.
In its filing, obtained by Explosion, Elijah stated that although he received an email about the petition, he ignored it because he was not sure of the sender’s address. He also claimed that despite receiving the email service, the time it was sent was too close to his court hearing date.

He said, “Although I received an email copy of several petitions and related documents on December 31, 2023, although I have received a service by email that is not five court days before the hearing, and I have not yet received or reviewed the Confidential Additional Information that has been filed by [Cher].”
In a second court filing, Elia states that she has been “clean and sober from illegal substances for over 90 days now and [is] fully capable and committed to managing money [he] receive quarterly from a trust left by [his] late father.”
The musician also stated that he is aware of his mother’s good intentions, but he does not need her “unsolicited” support.
“While I understand that my mother, the proposed conservator, believes she has my best interests at heart, and I appreciate her love and support, I do not need her unsolicited help or support at this time,” Elijah said.
Singer Claims Conservatory Will Help Protect Son’s Money

The singer claimed that her reason for filing for conservatorship was because of her son’s history of substance abuse. Cher emphasized that her son, who is entitled to a Trust, cannot manage his own finances and that he would spend it “immediately” on drugs.
Court documents obtained by Explosion read: “[Cher] cannot discuss Elijah’s preferences regarding the appointment of a temporary conservator because given Elijah’s current mental and physical health issues, discussed in detail in the Confidential Supplemental Information filed concurrently, he is unable to form or express preferences regarding the appointment of a conservator for his estate.”

Her lawsuit at the time stated that she feared Elijah would spend her money on drugs because of his ongoing mental health and substance abuse problems.
“[Cher] worried that any funds distributed to Elijah would be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to support himself and endangering Elijah’s life,” the document continued.
Cher is also in a legal battle with his son’s estranged wife, Marieangela King, with whom he recently reconciled. King has previously accused the star of blocking his assets, kidnapping his own children, and even interfering with his health management.
