Applegate made her final red carpet appearance at the 2023 SAG Awards on February 26, 2023. She was joined by her daughter Sadie for an emotional moment. The 52-year-old stepped out in style with a cane featuring “FU MS” emblazoned with rhinestones on it for help. The cane also featured his daughter’s name.

The award-winning actor explained that it was his “last award show as an actor” due to his poor health. Applegate, who had to stop acting due to her battle with Multiple Sclerosis – which she was diagnosed with in 2021 – said in a previous interview:
“Now, I can’t imagine getting up at 5 in the morning and spending 12 to 14 hours on a set; I don’t have that in me at the moment.”
