Meet Cody Hawken, Mikayla Nogueira’s Husband
Growing up, Cody Hawken never felt happy. “All my life, I’ve just been sad,” he said. Even before he found drugs, he admits that he was just a “sad person” who didn’t feel accepted and like he belonged everywhere. Therefore, when he found drugs, it connected him with people, who he thought were his friends at the time.
“I never really imagined life,” Cody said. He thought he wouldn’t live to see 18. But then, he was 18 and 21, and life still went on. Therefore, realizing that this is not what he wants – an unstable, destructive relationship and his life – he decides to get help. Later, he traveled from his home state of Nevada to Massachusetts to seek treatment for his addiction at AA Recovery and Rehab.
“When I got to the end of my rope, I came out here about two and a half years ago and I spent my last $400 on a plane ticket here and I had $19 when I landed at Logan Airport,” he said. “Just broken, like, a broken and hopeless addict.”
Fortunately, a few months into the treatment, Cody began to see changes. “The first thought in my head wasn’t ‘I’m not good enough,'” he said. It was also during the sobriety journey that he met Mikayla (in December 2020). He was also sober for a year.
“The man who came into my life and showed me what true love feels like. He made me believe in true true love, but he also made me believe in myself. I couldn’t ask for a better partner,” praised Mikayla.
Almost a year into their relationship, Cody and Mikayla then got engaged on November 20, 2021. “I got down on one knee and proposed. I can’t wait to spend my life with him. She is the best partner and I couldn’t ask for a better woman to be by my side through my struggles and triumphs,” Cody later shared the happy news on his Instagram.
Now, after two years of engagement, the couple finally tied the knot on July 1, 2023. The two got married in an outdoor ceremony overlooking the ocean.
