eBay Plays It Safe With Jeffrey Dahmer Costumes Ahead Of Halloween

The fun of Halloween is upon us, with many revelers around the world eager to show off their creativity in costumes.

Perhaps it’s no surprise that some fans are planning to imitate the famous Jeffrey Dahmer, given the recognition he recently gained with the release of the 2022 Netflix series, “Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story.”

Unfortunately, they won’t be able to make any purchases related to the serial killer on eBay because the online marketplace has removed the sale of the item for violating its terrorism policy.

Interest in Dahmer-inspired costumes, including glasses, wigs and shirts, has multiplied since the true-crime show premiered on September 21 for the Halloween season.

Shirley Hughes, the mother of one of Dahmer’s victims, also called the use of his image for cheerleading exploitative and provocative to see people dressed as the killer who killed her son, Tony Hughes. Not to mention, TikToker Jack Wright was slammed recently for sharing a video where he recreated a scene from the production.

Given the negativity associated with Dahmer, an eBay representative confirmed that all of the famous killer’s items are being taken out under the terror and violent criminals policy, according to The Daily News.

The policy prohibits “matters closely related to or that benefit violent criminals, their acts or crime scenes within the last 100 years.” As for the user agreement, it states, “listings that promote or glorify violence or violent acts, or are associated with individuals known for violent acts, are not permitted.”

The eCommerce brand is recognized for its policy of “respecting victims of violent crime” and for fostering trust, respect and safety in the market community. Dahmer may have been dead for nearly three decades, but he still has a mark on the lives of his victims’ families, which viewers will understand in the 2022 Netflix series.

As differing opinions on the production created by Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan continue to make headlines, some fans believe it sympathizes with the killer. However, The Blast reports that Brennan set the record straight by refuting that view.

During a conversation with PageSix, the co-creator expressed his belief that the film shows Dahmer as a human being while revealing him as a “terrible human being” and “terrible.” He added:

“That’s what we want to uncover. We try to show as objective a portrait as possible. We do our homework.”

Dahmer, who killed seventeen boys and young men between 1978 and 1991, was brutally beaten to death in 1994 while serving several life sentences. His many murders involving cannibalism, necrophilia, and preservation of body parts are detailed in the thrilling series, making it the second most watched British show of all time with 701.37 million hours watched.

The popularity surprised co-creator Brennan who admitted that he didn’t know why it happened although he kept wondering. He feels it’s interesting when “horror stories” like “Dahmer” can resonate with people, which he also believes is a way for such people to “approach the scary things about themselves” and see them portrayed on screen.

However, the 44-year-old still doesn’t understand why fans miss the famous killer as he sees him as “creepy” and “crazy.”

Violent Scenes Of The Netflix Docuseries Drive Mother Of Three To Masturbate

Brennan may see the attraction to serial killers as creepy, but those who do have the opposite view. This was recently discussed on “The Kyle and Jackie O Show,” focusing on female believers.

The Blast shared details of the conversation, including a woman who called to make a shocking revelation about being raised by a serial killer. He confessed:

“I am a happily married mother with three children. But when I started watching Jeff, because my friends told me, something changed in me.”

The mother of three continued, “And there was one particular episode where he put his head over his victim’s heart, and he heard a beat, and you could just hear the beat.” The scene involved him masturbating, eventually becoming “normal,” surprising the show’s hosts.

The woman further explained that the episode was “so far” from her normal life, and that it took her to “this other place” when she heard a heartbeat “echoing” in her head.
