The late CBS New York meteorologist Elise Finch or Elise Dione Finch Henriques is married to her husband Graig Henriques. The married couple met on CBS. They reportedly married in August 2013 in a lavish wedding ceremony at Untermyer Gardens.
They were happily married for 10 years. However, the couple prefers to keep their private lives out of the public eye.
Elise spent 16 years working at WCBS. He started working for us in 2007 as our weekend meteorologist, and most recently appeared on the morning news with Chris Wragge and Mary Calvi. Elise joined Cindy Hsu on the 9 a.m. newscast in September.
The award-winning meteorologist is proud to mention that he was born in Mount Vernon and that he attended and completed his high school education there.
Elise graduated from Georgetown University with a Bachelor of Science and was awarded the prestigious President’s Award. He later graduated from Syracuse University with a Master of Science in broadcast journalism. He has a deep passion for the entertainment business, especially the music scene.
Elise also admitted to being a big fan of Janet Jackson. His interviews with his favorite musicians are excellent.
The meteorologist died suddenly over the weekend at the age of 51.
Announcing her unexpected death, the station said: ‘It is with deep sadness that we share the news of the passing of our beloved Elise Dione Finch Henriques.
‘Elise is a talented and consummate professional who cares about her work. He is also a great ambassador in the community, including his hometown of Mount Vernon. Above all, Elise was a very loving and devoted mother to her daughter Grace and wife to Graig Henriques, who was a photojournalist at WCBS.’
The cause of his death has yet to be ascertained.
Elise is a beloved daughter of Mount Vernon who proudly serves as an ambassador for her community. He is the son of James Finch Jr. and Charlotte Finch. He has an older sister named Kiya Finch-Roberts.
In the immediate aftermath of his death, Finch’s colleagues paid tribute to his memory on social media, including his co-author Chris Wragge. “My heart is broken,” she wrote Twitter July 16. “Our team will never be the same. No one matched musical intelligence better. I will miss you so much.”
Jessica Moore, a fellow reporter, remembered Finch as “very loyal to the people he loved.” “A straight shooter, consummate professional, and made me laugh until I cried,” added Moore in the July 16th tweets. “But above all that he was truly devoted to his family, especially his daughter Grace. I love you so much, my friend. Heaven now has an angel like no other.”
WCBS reporter Tony Aiello as well remembered Finch for his love of music. “The song of his life deserves more verses. His gifts are many, and so are the lives he touched,” he tweeted. “Deepest condolences to little Graig and Grace, his parents and sister, and all of our CBS2 family.”
NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams also expressed her condolences for the city’s loss. “Elise served as a CBS meteorologist for over a decade and graced thousands of households with her wisdom,” he tweeted. “He will be truly missed. My prayers go out to his family and friends.”
