Fans Displeased With Delay And Cancellation Of Netflix’s ‘Selling Tampa’

Netflix never ceases to amaze its users with the amount and standard of content they put out. The streaming powerhouse maintains its standards when it premieres “Selling Tampa” in December 2021.

Although the show is a spinoff of “Selling Sunset” and follows its format, “Selling Tampa” focuses on chronicling the work and adventures surrounding Allure Realty, a Black-owned real estate company with an all-Black staff. Unfortunately, the company’s story will remain untold following the cancellation of the hit series by Netflix.

‘Sell Tampa’ Fans Want Show Renewed

Shortly after it became clear that “Selling Tampa” would not be returning for a second season, fans of the show took to social media to air their grievances. One person tweeted, “So I don’t think we get another season of selling tampa. Which is sad because I love the show.”

Another disappointed fan write, “Buying Beverly Hills is so bad. We got this instead of a second season of Selling Tampa?!” Third person marked Netflix’s official Twitter account and yelled, “where are the freaks Selling Tampa??!”

The fourth person comment, “Well this is lame. I love the show,” and the fifth has this question, “Between #SellingSunset and #BuyingBeverlyHills does anyone know who has sold more properties? Also, where is Season 2 of #SellingTampa?”

Even Haitian-American singer and media personality Jessie Woo said“Y’all are here calling #SellingTampa all kinds of ghetto and now look… we’re still waiting for season 2.”

Amidst fan devastation, a Page Six source has shed some light on the circumstances surrounding the show’s cancellation. According to insiders, after months of getting the runaround, the cast of the show was invited by Adam DiVello — the creator of the franchise — and producer Skyler Wakil to a Zoom call.

During the call, the news of the cancellation was broken to the actor. The source emphasized that although the woman was not given a credible explanation, they were instructed to inform curious fans, “There are no plans right now for more “Selling Tampa,” but luckily, the first season is still on Netflix for fans to rewatch or discover.”

Speaking about the turn of events, cast member Juawana Colbert told the news outlet, “I feel like we weren’t given a second chance, maybe because of what we represent as a minority woman.”

The high-end real estate agent insisted they also had to deal with Netflix and its producers, who were “out of touch” about how to film with an all-black cast. For starters, producers expect women to be ready within an hour for their confessional interviews — a feat most actors say is unreasonable. In Colbert’s words:

“With stitches or the type of extensions that women of color usually have to get, we don’t work in the same timeframe. It’s not a wash and go. Minority women, it’s not that easy. Our hair, in general, takes longer.”

The TV personality also noted that Netflix’s excuse that “Tampa” doesn’t have a “number” doesn’t add up because the show was ranked No. 1 in the United States on the streaming service within 24 hours of its release.

Others starring alongside Colbert include Colony Reeves, Karla Giorgo, Anne-Sophie Petit, Alexis Williams, Tennille Moore, Rena Frazier and Sharelle Rosado — head broker of Allure Realty.

Instead, “Selling Sunset” earned its third straight People’s Choice Award nomination — a feat Heather Rae Young and co-star Chrishell Stause celebrated.

As Heather uploaded a video featuring her and her husband, Tarek El Moussa, encouraging fans to vote for the show because “the third time’s the charm!” Stause filmed a video with his dog, “the real star of the show.” The Blast observed that the reality star, who was also nominated in another category, was joined by her partner, G-Flip, for an IG Story update.

The high-profile awards show is scheduled to air on Dec. 6 with “Selling Sunset” battling “90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days,” “The Kardashians,” “Below Deck Sailing Yacht,” “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation,” “Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta,” “The Real Housewives of Atlanta,” and “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.”

As for Stause, she will battle Garcelle Beauvais, Khloé Kardashian, Kenya Moore, Kim Kardashian, Kyle Richards, Kandi Burruss and Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino.
