Hearts were broken at the just concluded 95th Annual Academy Awards! What should have been an eventful night for Angela Bassett and her loyal fans turned out to be the opposite after the extraordinary star lost the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role to Jamie Lee Curtis.
Curtis, who is known as the “scream queen” for her famous and influential roles in horror films, used her high-pitched skills after winning the award sought after by other nominees in the category.

The “Knives Out” actress finally fulfilled her lifelong dream of winning her first Academy award. She won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the superhero comedy “Everything Everywhere All At Once” on Sunday in Los Angeles.
Curtis looked stunning, dressed in a shimmering cream and silver gown with boning along the bodice, as she took the stage to accept her award and give a touching acceptance speech dedicated to her husband, her children, the crew of “EEAAO,” and her parents.
However, the “Halloween” actor’s win came as a surprise to many disappointed fans as he beat frontrunner Bassett, whose work in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” earned Marvel its first Oscar nomination in the acting category.
Nominated alongside Curtis for the supporting actress category, are his “Everything Everywhere All At Once” star Stephanie Hsu, as well as “The Whale’s” Hong Chau, and “The Banshees Of Inisherin’s” Kerry Condon.
Expressing his joy after receiving his trophy, Curtis said, “I know it looks like I’m standing alone here, but I’m not. I am hundreds of people… The group of artists who made this film, we just won an Oscar”!

He further added, “To all the people who have supported the genre films I’ve made over the years, thousands and hundreds of thousands of people… Us. Only. Win. An. Oscar. together! And my mother and father were both nominated for Oscars in different categories… I just won an Oscar.”
Unfazed by the verdict, several individuals took to Twitter to express their displeasure at the news and called out the Academy Awards for mocking Bassett.
One angrily observed, “Angela Bassett’s reaction hurt me #Oscars ?. Attached to this tweet is a short clip that reveals the upset reaction of the “Black Panther” actress after the winner was announced.
Another shocked fan asked, “Jamie Lee Curtis????? About Angela Bassett and Stephanie Hsu”??? A third pointedly pointed out, “Of course the #Oscars reward mediocre white people because in what world does Jamie Lee Curtis give a better performance than Stephanie Hsu or Angela Bassett”?
One reviewer made their point, writing, “Jamie is barely in the movie, there’s no way he’s getting the award over the movie’s true antagonist and Angela Bassett who gives the performance of a lifetime.”
Meanwhile, a rather angry individual wants to understand the reason behind Curtis’ victory. They wrote, “Angela Bassett plays the grieving mother, Stephanie Hsu plays the wacky multidimensional daughter, and I still don’t know what Jamie a** is doing in everything everywhere.”

They further asked, “can any of you tell me what the F**K Jamie Lee Curtis is doing in everything everywhere”???? Another wrote, “Stephani Hsu AND Angela Bassett lost to the goddamn king Jamie Lee Curtis. You can’t make this up.”
one Twitter user suggested, “Jamie Lee Curtis over Stephanie Hsu and Angela Bassett is so unserious because of all the roles he’s had in his life there’s no way he won in eeaao. It should have been FREAKY FRIDAY.” They continued to shun Curtis for his speech, adding, “WE’RE GORGEOUS ABOUT YOUR PARENTS.”

Additionally, a die-hard Bassett fan shared their thoughts on the matter, writing, “Angela Bassett getting insulted is EXACTLY why I paid for this crappy ⚪ award. Anyway, shout out to NAACP Image Award Winner/Best Performer Angela Bassett.”
Bassett Was Previously Unrecognized At The 1994 Oscars
The “Malcolm X” actor who has gone ahead to make a name for himself in the Hollywood industry seems to have been continuously stripped of his shine by the organizers of the Academy Awards.
The 64-year-old, during an appearance on “CBS Mornings” a few days before the premiere of the 95th Academy Awards, explained his feelings about not getting an award for his role in the 1993 Tina Turner biopic – “What’s Love Got To Do.”
He said, “Of course, at this point, you hope and pray and hope … but I don’t go away thinking I’ve been robbed. That’s too negative an emotion for me to carry with me for the rest of my life.”
Bassett concluded, “I choose to believe that there is a reason why it didn’t happen.”
