Pugh is likely to attend the festival because he is contractually obligated to promote the film. She stunned in a dark, sparkly Valentino gown. However, it’s notable that she didn’t stand next to Wilde or her boyfriend Harry Styles for any photos; there is always at least one or two people among them.
Sources also indicated that Pugh was not seen speaking to Wilde or Styles at all. Pugh skipped press conferences and photo calls ahead of the film festival. It sparked fans to wonder why he didn’t promote the film like everyone else.

While Pugh is determined to keep his distance whenever possible, Wilde has done his due diligence and promoted the sophomore directorial moment. When asked how he felt about Pugh finally appearing to promote the film, Wilde didn’t take the bait.
“Florence is a force, we are so grateful that she was able to do it tonight even in the production,” the 38-year-old said. “For all the endless gossip and tabloid noise out there, the internet feeds itself. I don’t think I need to contribute to it.”
Pugh would say otherwise, maybe the same goes for Shia Labeouf who also almost starred in the film. Wilde has made the rounds claiming he had to fire Labeouf and replace him with Styles but he begs to differ.
“My firing never happened, Olivia,” the actress told Wilde in a public statement. “And while I fully understand the appeal of pushing that story because of the current social landscape, the social currency that carries. It is not the truth.”

Wilde really did a number on his actors. Labeouf has no problem calling him a liar publicly and Pugh has made it clear publicly, as well that he doesn’t like the relationship that developed on set between Wilde and Styles.
He called it unprofessional and uncomfortable for his working conditions. That sentiment was echoed by the energy at the festival. The entire cast dodged questions about the work environment.
Wilde however, continues to try and spin the narrative so that he doesn’t look unprofessional and proves his co-stars right. He told Diversity, “the tabloid media is a tool to pit women against each other and shame them.” Do you have something to be ashamed of, Olivia? Asking for friends.

As we mentioned before, the festival was the only event where Pugh was contractually obligated to attend a press conference the day before the premiere, the red carpet, and then the actual premiere.
Pugh also confirmed he will be there for all the events then BANG! Similarly, the actress canceled her appearance at the press conference and only appeared on the red carpet in time to walk and retreat inside to watch the film.
Pugh claimed he had to cancel at the last minute due to related obligations Dune Part II. But that excuse has already been thrown around because Dune series star Timothee Chalamet managed to attend all of his red carpet events and then some.
Wilde is happy to talk about this excuse because let’s face it, it makes him look less sketchy. “Florence is a strong person, and we are very grateful that she was able to do it tonight even in a production on sand dunes. I know, as a director, how disturbing it is to lose an actor even for a day, so I am very grateful to him, to Denis Villeneuve for helping us.”
Let’s see if Pugh appears at any other event for this controversial film.
