Footage shows Arizona woman allegedly pouring bleach into her US Air Force husband’s coffee maker

Disturbing footage shows the wife of a US Air Force airman allegedly pouring bleach into the family’s coffee maker multiple times in an attempt to kill her husband as they went through a divorce.

Melody Felicano Johnson, 39, was charged in August by police in Tucson, Arizona, with attempted murder for allegedly tying her husband Roby Johnson’s coffee with chemicals while the couple lived at his duty station in Germany and in Arizona.

Several hidden camera videos recorded by the would-be victim and obtained by Law & Crime Wednesday show Johnson allegedly pouring the toxic substance into the machine.

“Boom,” Roby said in a self-recorded video after removing a test strip from the family’s coffee maker that was purple because of positive chlorinated water.

The couple – who have a child together – were in the middle of a divorce when Roby started noticing his coffee was off for about two weeks while in Germany in March.

“He stated he knew that he would have his coffee pot ready at night so that in the morning he would only have to turn it on to make his coffee,” court documents show. “At that point he stopped drinking coffee but continued to pretend to drink.”

Roby, believing his wife was trying to poison him since they were in Germany, chose to gather evidence and wait until they returned to the US before sharing the gruesome discovery with law enforcement, according to court documents.

Footage from July 5 shows Johnson looking evilly over his shoulder in the kitchen as he carries out the near-fatal scheme.

On July 6, he filed a report with the Tucson Police Department.

However, the report was not followed up as the video reportedly did not clearly show what he poured into his drink.

Two weeks later, on July 16, Johnson was caught on camera pouring a large bottle of bleach into a smaller container while he was in the couple’s laundry room.

Immediately after transferring the bleach, Johnson entered the kitchen and poured the contents from the small container into the coffee maker in seconds.

Roby continued to test the coffee maker regularly, already aware that his wife was trying to kill him.

“You can smell it from here. You can smell it,” he said in a video before testing the coffee maker.

“Look at that,” he said, pulling a positive test from the coffee maker.

“Really changed,” Roby said, pointing to the test now purple and positive.

In disbelief, Roby repeatedly says, “Wow,” and points to the foam in the coffee maker’s water container before ending the video.

Roby believed he was trying to poison her to collect interest, according to court documents.

Johnson remains in the Pima County Jail on $250,000 bond and is charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault and adding poison to food/beverage, online records show.

After being arrested, Johnson immediately asked for a lawyer and was not questioned.

The judge ruled that because Johnson had family in the Philippines, he was a flight risk and asked for a high bond.
