Crosby, affectionately known as ‘Croz’ by his fans and those closest to him, died earlier this week after a battle with illness. The ‘CSNY’ musician is 81 years old.

The rocker is survived by his wife, Jan, and son Django, both of whom were mentioned several times in tributes from many celebrities and musicians after his death.

The Blast shared the news of his death on Thursday, January 19. According to our report, Jan Crosby, who David married in 1987, shared a statement announcing his death to Variety.

Among the countless condolences shared following Crosby’s death were many who were once important members of his inner circle, including former bandmates Neil Young and Graham Nash. Stephen Stills will also later pay tribute. The 78-year-old declared he will “miss” his CSNY teammates “beyond the limit.”

Actress Glenn Close will also express her sadness over Crosby’s death. The duo co-starred in 1991’s “Hook,” alongside the late Robin Williams.

Close took to her Instagram on Saturday, posting a video expressing her thoughts and sharing her memories of her late friend.

The “Fatal Attraction” actor reminded several times that Crosby’s contributions to music history, especially his work with CSNY, will be embedded in his and his generation’s “DNA.”

Although Close “didn’t know” her fellow rocker “well,” she said he was “unforgettable.”

“I met David, not backstage at a concert,” Close began her tribute, “but I met him in ‘Hook,’ where we were both pirates,” she said. “I went under the guise of ‘Gutless,’ and nobody on set knew who I was, a lot of people thought I was a guy, but David, of course, knew who I was, and we got along…”

The “101 Dalmatians” actress added that she and Crosby would “laugh a lot” during their time together.

“He told me things about his life, the struggles he’s been through,” Close continued to tell his followers, “and he said that at one point in his life, he pawned his most beloved guitar,” she shared. Close goes on to describe how much this guitar means to rock history! Crosby composed many of his most famous songs on it.

“It was one of the great sorrows of his life…,” he revealed of Crosby’s parting with the guitar. “Shortly after that, or at the same time, David had a birthday, and I was invited, and my friend Woody Harrelson was invited too,- Close and Harrison reported to be a couple for a short period in the early 90s- “and he told me that Stephen Stills and a bunch of other people had, I don’t know how long, but they had somehow found a guitar that David Crosby had pawned for years. ago,” continued Close.

“They were going to perform for him at this party,” he recalls, “and the plan was that some of them would go up and say ‘you’re going to sing some songs’, including Woody, and Woody would get this guitar, and play around with it, and ask David to help tune it! So, that’s what we’re all witnessing, um, Woody pulls out this guitar, called David [and said] ‘Hey, David, this is complicated, I need help tuning this guitar, [and] up, so David went up, sat down, picked up the guitar, started tuning it, and then… we all witnessed this moment when David Crosby realized what he was holding, that it was his beloved guitar that he never thought he would ever see again,” Close said with emotion. “And he knew it by weight, by taste, by sound, and we saw this look come over his face, and then he started to cry…”

“I’ll never forget it,” Close said. He also said he will never forget the “love and determination” Crosby’s friends took to track down the instrument.

“It was an amazing moment,” he would go on to say.

In his tribute to his late teammate, Stills would write, “David and I had a lot of fights from time to time, but they mostly winked at shots, but still numbed us.”

The two would eventually put aside their differences. “I’m glad I made peace with it,” Stills would go on to write. (via Rolling Stone)
