Gymnast McKayla Maroney Says ‘I Just Want To Be Normal’ In Health Update

Professional gymnast McKayla Maroney is giving a new update on her health.

The singer dropped a post on his Instagram, spilling all the details about his journey and where he is mentally and spiritually. Maroney, who helped the FBI take down sex offender Larry Nassar in 2021, was a highly regarded member of the American team at the 2011 World Championships.

McKayla Maroney Discovers Why She Can’t Sleep

Maroney shared important news about her health status with several photos, including her being transfused and holding a food sensitivity test pack.

More slides show her taking notes for doctors, looking emotional during video calls and taking screenshots of texts with friends. She accompanied the heartwarming post with a touching caption that read:

“Hey girl?Forever. Hopefully you have a hot summer girl because I sure don’t. I have bad insomnia in summer?. I slept 10 days out of 3 months. I’d like to say it’s a nightmare, but you have to sleep to have a nightmare.”

He added that he had visited many doctors and was “just beginning to understand the cause” of his health spiral crisis. He eventually discovered that he had a histamine intolerance, which caused severe adrenaline problems for him.

“When it gets really bad, high histamine foods make me itch inside, like I’ve been bitten by mosquitoes all night ? I just connected it with histamine, and cut out those foods, added in a DAO supplement (which helps break down excess histamine) and I has started to sleep again. PRAISE GOD,” explained the Olympic gold medalist.

Although she still doesn’t know what causes histamine intolerance, Maroney demands a “round of applause” for her bravery. The athlete revealed that he also suffers from severe anemia and is working to get better. According to him:

“I find high oxalate foods (like spinach, almonds, potatoes) give me massive fatigue, and weird neuropathy problems at night, which also ruins my sleep. ???.”

Maroney admitted she still feels embarrassed about her health issues and food sensitivities, insisting that she “hated how high maintenance they made me when I just wanted to be normal.” But she won’t let that stop her from living life and helping people as she writes:

“But it is what it is. I’m just going to share about it, and hopefully help someone!! My next post will be more helpful I promise— it’s more of a trauma dump??.”

In June, the athlete launched Glohe, a new Instagram account dedicated to wellness and health. Per heavy in 2021, the “Bones” actress shared that her passion for health and wellness came from personal experiences like her journey with keratosis pilaris, which sparked her interest in skin care.

Her interest in mental health was also sparked by her struggles with binge eating and post-traumatic stress disorder.

The 27-year-old stated that although these experiences were painful, they taught her “valuable lessons” and put her “on a better path.” He ended the post with words of encouragement, writing:

Two years ago, the gymnast underwent a major surgical procedure to remove several kidney stones that would not pass naturally. As if that wasn’t enough, she had a terrifying fall right before the procedure, in which she hit her head but was quickly rescued by her mother. Maroney said:

“The morning before the removal I started feeling really sick, I passed out and hit my head on the corner of my bedroom wall. I had to call my mom to get me and take me to my appointment lol. Tough month! but I went through the worst, and in the light.”

Even after the surgery, the decorated athlete revealed she had a painful infection and was “constantly nauseous.” However, she looked very healthy on her IG post as she detailed her experience and gave fans important tips about kidney stones. Maroney wrote:

“I have learned from almost 12 different doctors now that the biggest prevention for kidney stones is to drink a lot of water. So please!! Drink your water, and have a good week.”
