Earlier this week, Terry revealed to TMZ that his wife played an important role in preventing potentially life-threatening strokes. The episode took place at The Ivy in Los Angeles, where the “Botched” star had a brief episode of slurred speech during a family dinner with Heather and their son Nick.
Although the episode lasted less than a minute, Heather took swift action and called 911, even though Terry claimed she felt fine and was upset by her decision.
Paramedics remove Terry’s vital organs, but Heather, displeased, insists on being hospitalized. In response, an embarrassed Terry orders a ride home. During the trip, Heather calls some of Terry’s “doctor friends”, after which he reluctantly agrees to go to the hospital.
Medical tests later identified a transient ischemic attack (TIA) – a brief stroke-like attack that “occurs when the blood supply to part of the brain is momentarily interrupted,” underscoring the importance of Heather’s quick thinking.

In an interview with E! News, Terry shared his insight following the disturbing incident. Terry emphasized the critical importance of recognizing stroke symptoms and acting quickly, citing a five-hour window for medical intervention.
“If you or anyone around you is showing signs of a stroke, time is critical. You have five hours to go to the hospital to save your life,” he said.
He also advises frequent movement while traveling to prevent blood clots, adding, “If you’ve traveled recently, make sure you move frequently to keep the blood flowing to prevent clots.” Finally, Terry discussed the prevalence of PFO (Patent Foramen Ovale) and emphasized that TIAs and strokes can affect “anyone at any age.”
Plastic surgeons advocate open communication with loved ones and value taking their concerns into account. “Listen to your partner. If they care about something, don’t argue, don’t ignore it and get to it right away. What they see may be very different from what you think,” he advises.
“Be thankful for those who love you. I love my wife, thank God for Heather and her persistence and insistence. He really saved my life.”

Terry isn’t the only celebrity to face the fear of a PFO or TIA. Last year, Hailey Bieber suffered a temporary stroke and underwent a PFO procedure. While talking to E! NewsTerry highlighted the different symptoms, saying, “The difference between me and Hailey Bieber is that the right side of her face is paralyzed and she has numbness and tingling, so she has more physical symptoms,” alerting even her husband, Justin Bieber, to the severity of the condition.
Although noticeable symptoms such as slurred speech and facial paralysis may be obvious indicators, Terry emphasizes that people should not panic if they have a PFO. “We don’t want to shock people and tell them they all need to have an echocardiogram to see if they have a PFO,” he explained, “but they need to understand the number one cause of death in this country and in most industries in the country is cardiovascular disease and the cause the number one death in that group is stroke.”
In terms of prevention, Terry recommends evaluating individuals with a heart murmur for the possibility of having a PFO. He also advises on precautions during long trips, suggesting, “If you’re going on a long trip, wear compression socks. Board the plane every hour and walk around the cabin. We’re constantly bombarded with tiny blood clots, but if you have a PFO and a little blood clot reaches your brain, it’s no joke.
