Hollywood star Hugh Jackman took his “feud” with Ryan Reynolds to the next level.
The “Logan” star recently asked the Oscars to boycott Reynolds’ new song “Good Afternoon.” The song, which comes from the 2022 Christmas movie “Spirited,” landed a spot on the Oscar nomination shortlist, and Jackman is not happy.
Jackman is set to star alongside Reynolds in the upcoming “Deadpool 3,” where he will reprise his iconic role as Wolverine. The “Greatest Showman” actor tweeted a video on Wednesday asking both fans and the Academy not to nominate “Good Afternoon” in the Best Musical (Original Song) Oscar category. This action comes as part of the fight between the two, as there is no real disagreement between them.
In the clip, Jackman first jokes about wanting to start the year on a positive note, then notes that news of the Oscar shortlist ruined his plans. He said, “Hey everyone, it’s 2023 and I really wanted to send a positive message at the beginning of the year, but recent events have made that impossible.”

He asked fans to make sure Reynolds’ song wasn’t nominated because the “Deadpool” star would brag about it to him non-stop. Jackman stated plainly, “Ryan Reynolds getting nominated in the Best Song category is going to make the next year of my life unbearable.” The request from the star comes after the Academy released their shortlist of 15 possible nominations for the category, including “Good Afternoon.”

The Academy included “Good Afternoon” on its short list of 14 other original songs that could be nominated in the Best Musical (Original Song) category of this year’s 95th Oscars.
Other shortlisted songs include entries from popular artists such as The Weeknd for his performance of “Nothing Is Lost (You Give Me Strength)” for “Avatar: The Way of Water,” Rihanna for “Lift Me Up” from “Wakanda Forever, ” Selena Gomez for “My Mind and Me” from her autobiography of the same name, and Lady Gaga for “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick.”
While he pleaded with the Academy to ignore the song, Jackman insisted that he had no problem with the film “Spirited” or “Good Afternoon” itself. He also stated that he was a fan of the film but did not want Reynolds to get an Oscar nomination.

As much as he loves watching the movie, he doesn’t want Reynolds to get a chance to brag to him on the set of “Deadpool 3” about getting an Oscar. The actor stated, “I got to spend a year with him shooting Wolverine and Deadpool.” He added, “Believe me, it is impossible. It will be a problem.”
Jackman insisted that he had no problem with the film, the song, or the other cast members. However, he joked that he didn’t want the “Adam Project” actor to be “validated” by an Oscar nomination. She pleaded, “Please, please, from the bottom of my heart – don’t endorse Ryan Reynolds like this. Please.”
