‘Hunger Games’ Stars React To Exemption From SAG-AFTRA Ongoing Strike

Fans and lovers of “The Hunger Games” franchise can now breathe a sigh of relief as things are looking up!

The production company for the show has made great progress with the interesting SAG-AFTRA union on another installment that will soon be dropped. Details of the deal revealed that the union would allow the actors to promote the film as they wished even while the strike was still in full effect.

All Things Move For New ‘Hunger Games’ Season

SAG-AFTRA has agreed to an interim agreement with Lionsgate to begin promotion of the upcoming “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.”

The film opened on November 17 with projections that it will collect $50 million in its first three days of release.

The new Hunger Games movie is set 64 years before the events of the book and the movie starring Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and her co-stars, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Hunter Schafer, Jason Schwartzman, Tom Blyth and Viola Davis.

An impressive cast positioned the film to break box office and theatrical records, especially following a landmark agreement between Lionsgate and SAG-AFTRA. Many films have suffered a major decline in ticket sales this fall due to a lack of publicity from their actors based on SAG-AFTRA rules.

Another star who has secured an interim SAG-AFTRA deal is Taylor Swift for her “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” which she promoted heavily and included several appearances at the Oct. 11 premiere at LA’s The Grove and social media posts.

Per DeadlineOther interim SAG-AFTRA agreements include “Priscilla,” “Iron Claw,” “Dream Scenario,” and “D—-s the Musical,” with their cast appearing at film festival premieres and awards events.

The SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14 and is still ongoing, with various actors coming out to detail their experiences with low pay and inadequate residuals from producers and film studios.

The strike rules state that actors cannot be involved in film or television productions and cannot be involved in film or television productions and promotional events.

Welcome Development For ‘The Hunger Games’ Cast

The decision of the SAG-AFTRA union was met with endless appreciation and solidarity from the cast of the show on their respective social media pages. Actress Rachel Zegler uploaded an Instagram post accompanied by a lengthy caption following the news, which read:

“I am very grateful to @lionsgate and @sagaftra for working so hard throughout this strike to reach an agreement, allowing us to take part in the press and promotion for our film, which will be released in cinemas on November 17.”

Zegler added that Lionsgate’s efforts show that studios and unions can come to an agreement and appreciate the hard work of actors and actresses as he describes his experience making the film by writing:

“Making this film has been one of the best experiences of my life so far. I can’t wait to share more behind-the-scenes content with all of you, the fans, that makes this kind of experience eight million times better. there will be many of my beautiful friends from the cast, as well as appreciation for our crew, which is filled with people I love very much. (so watch this space! there’s more to come.).”
