Eric Schwerin — one of Hunter Biden’s closest business associates — will testify before the House Oversight Committee in a closed hearing in January, the committee confirmed to The Post.
Schwerin, 54, who works as president of Hunter Biden’s investment firm, Rosemont Seneca Partners, has been subpoenaed to appear on Nov. 9, 2023.
Emails from the first child’s laptop left behind show Schwerin was closely involved with the personal finances of Hunter Biden and his father, President Biden.
“Mr. Schwerin worked closely with Biden family members, Biden associates and Biden corporate entities that the committee has identified as transferring millions of dollars to Biden, often from foreign sources,” including “access to bank accounts,” the panel wrote to Schwerin lawyer. , William Farah, in their subpoena.
The letter was sent after months of negotiations between Schwerin, who lives in a three-bedroom townhouse in the affluent Glover Park neighborhood of Washington DC, and the committee.
The closed nature of the hearing suggests the deposition will follow the same format as Devon Archer, another business associate of Hunter Biden who spoke to the committee in July.
News of the bombshell deposition comes just weeks after Hunter Biden was hit with a raft of new felony and misdemeanor charges for allegedly failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes while living the life of a “luxurious” nepo baby.

The first son could face up to 17 years in prison.
Experts say Schwerin’s testimony could be explosive given how close he is to the Biden family’s finances.
“He was the intermediary between Hunter’s business and Joe’s cash pot. He set up a shell company. He did the cash transfer. He knows where the money goes,” said Jim Hanson, an information security consultant who has studied Hunter Biden’s laptop. “If there’s a smoking gun, he plants it.”
It’s unclear exactly what Schwerin will say, but members will almost certainly be looking for answers to this week’s revelation from the House Ways and Means Committee that Joe Biden used email pseudonyms to secretly communicate with family members — and Schwerin — between 2011 and 2019. .

The elder Biden sent or attended to 327 emails with Schwerin.
Of those, 54 were exclusively between Joe Biden and Schwerin.
The committee has accused Schwerin of being the architect of “various shell companies that launder money around the world.”
Hunter Biden and Schwerin likely first met more than 20 years ago when they worked in former President Bill Clinton’s Department of Commerce.
When George W. Bush became president, Hunter Biden went into the private sector and started a lobbying firm with William Oldaker, a DC attorney who worked on his father’s aborted 1988 presidential campaign.
Schwerin became a partner in the company in 2002, lobbying disclosure forms show.
In June 2009 — shortly after the elder Biden became vice president — Hunter Biden founded his investment firm Rosemont Seneca Partners with Devon Archer, a former Abercrombie & Fitch model, and Chris Heinz, ketchup heir and John Kerry’s stepson.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s hard drive show that Eric Schwerin had close access to Joe Biden’s finances.
Schwerin signed the contract as president, and the fund aggressively pursued deals in Russia, Romania, Ukraine, China and elsewhere.
The committee has focused entirely on China, particularly the 2017 deal between Hudson West III — an LLC managed and invested in by Hunter Biden — and CEFC, the Chinese energy giant that wants to sell American liquefied natural gas to China.
President Biden, who had just finished serving as vice president under President Obama at the time, was involved in the deal, Comer told The Post last year.
“This is China trying to buy ownership into our America [energy] industry, which is a national security threat — and oh by the way it’s run by Joe Biden. That’s a problem and that’s why we’re worried about this White House being affected,” Comer said.
Unlike Archer and Heinz, Schwerin was deeply connected to Vice President Biden’s orbit, records show.
On Nov. 17, 2010, Schwerin met with Biden in the West Wing — one of dozens of documented visits to the White House he made during the Obama/Biden years, according to visitor logs.
“He does financial things for the family but that’s all I know,” Margaret Campbell, a former special assistant to Jill Biden, told The Post in April 2022.
Emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop show he also had access to then-Vice President Biden’s finances. Schwerin handled Joe Biden’s “Delaware tax refund check” and the two spoke on the phone.
“Your father just called me [about his mortgage] and mentioned he’s leaving soon and won’t be back until Labor Day … He could use some positive news about his future earning potential,” Schwerin wrote in a July 2010 email to Hunter Biden.
Schwerin previously met with the Monitoring Committee in March to discuss the equipment document. The Democratic Committee said at the time that Schwerin claimed “he was not aware of any involvement by President Biden in the financial handling of the President’s relatives’ businesses.”

Republicans, however, dispute that characterization. His appearance in January will be his first transcribed interview.
Neither Schwerin nor his attorneys responded to requests for comment from The Post.
