Israeli mother escaped Hamas terrorists after seeing everything ‘destroyed and covered in blood’

An Israeli mother who evaded arrest with her two young children recalled being led by Hamas into Gaza with the sound of gunfire and seeing everything “broken and covered in blood” before she was able to escape.

Terrorists broke into Avital Aldjem’s home and dragged her out of the closet where she was hiding before forcing her and her two children — Negev, 4, and baby Eshel, just four months old — to start walking with them towards Gaza.

“They took us from house to house, all the time there was gunfire along the way,” Aldjem told i24news reporter, Natasha Raquel Kirtchuk Gutman, in Hebrew.

“Puddles of blood everywhere.”

“They burned the house. The car caught fire. Then they took me and my children out and led us to the fence surrounding the Kibbutz. There was a breach in the fence, and they started taking us towards Gaza,” he said.

In tears, the mother recalled the terrorists who kept telling them “Hurry, hurry,” and shots were fired the entire way.

His son, Negev, was being carried on the shoulder of one of the terrorists, shouting that he wanted to be let down the whole way.

Fortunately for Aldjem and her children, when they arrived in Gaza, their captors simply put the children down, shook their heads, and continued walking without them.

“They went straight to Gaza and left me and the children,” he said. “At that moment, I realized we were free to go home.”

Aldjem started walking home alone, on foot, with his two children.

His eldest son, Negev, wounded by shrapnel, was carried on Aldjem’s back and also walked on his own.

“He’s brave,” said the mother. “I told him we need to get away from the bad guys and go home to the good guys.”
