Coolidge, known for his impeccable comedic timing and ability to steal the spotlight with larger-than-life characters, sat down with “Shameless” star Jeremy Allen White as part of Diversity“Actors Actors” interview series.

When asked by White if he started acting with longevity in mind, the actor admitted that his “fatal flaw” and one of his long-time regrets was starting without a strategy and not “riding the wave” he experienced in the 1990s.

“Now that I’m old enough to look back on my life and definitely my mistakes, I see a lot of that. But I never had any strategy. I just go from job to job,” he explained.

Coolidge continued, “I have to say that I made a big mistake in not riding the wave that I had from the beginning. It was kind of in the ’90s when I had ‘Legally Blonde,’ ‘Best in Show’ and ‘American Pie.’ And then there’s ‘Cinderella Story’ and so on.

In her chat with White, the “Shotgun Wedding” actress honestly admitted that she wasn’t “riding the wave” because she was distracted by other commitments and personal matters at the time. Looking back on that period, he acknowledges the need for better focus and the ability to prioritize career opportunities.

“… But there was a moment. There are waves that I can ride, but I get distracted,” said the actress. As to the real reason he was distracted, Coolidge stated, “I started chasing men.”

He added, “I’m not paying attention. I just thought I had my whole life. I never said, ‘I want to do …’ I got a few jobs, but I didn’t have a plan. And I think that’s a fatal flaw because it takes a long time to get things done later. I look back and ask, ‘What was I thinking?’ And then I bought a house in New Orleans and went all out fixing it up.”

The “Gravity Falls” alum weighs in on his predictions for the third installment of “The White Lotus,” sharing his predictions about what will happen to (Tanya’s husband) Greg, portrayed by Jon Gries.

“My hope for Jon is that he’s not done with Greg. I hope there are some appearances for evil Greg. I think he should have, I don’t know, ended up in a meat grinder,” he said.

Coolidge also admitted that saying goodbye to his character on the show was challenging because the writer, Mike White, was looking for a “big Italian opera ending,” so he wanted him to die for many reasons.

“But I also think Tanya a lot. Maybe people will get sick of it in another season. Maybe people will say, ‘Oh my God. Get rid of Tanya!’” he admitted.

In the series, Coolidge’s character Tanya dies after becoming aware of Greg’s murder plan, which prompts her to shoot on the yacht, killing the gay gang that Greg hired to kill her. He fell into the sea and died after trying and failing to save himself after the rampage.

When asked about filming the scene, Coolidge said he “never got on a boat again.”

“I was pissed because we were shooting him regularly, hanging out with the guy,” he said. “It feels genuine. I really like to kill them all.”

“It was my awkwardness with the gun that, I think, helped a lot,” Coolidge added. “We had to re-record that several times. ‘Where’s the gun? The inside of the bag is black. I can’t find it.’ But it all felt real. When you’re on a boat, and you’re in the middle of the ocean, and there’s nowhere to go, what if your cast mates hate you? They can reject you. Anyone can get rid of you on a boat.”
