It’s fitting that Amy Schneider chose to announce the release of her new book on Transgender Day of Visibility, as she is the first transgender champion to qualify for any Tournament of Champions and has become an inspiration and advocate for transgender youth everywhere.

On March 31, 2022, Amy was actually invited to the White House to denounce “hateful” anti-transgender laws. She used her newfound fame to speak out against bills that would affect transgender people, especially those who are underage.

“They’re really scary and some of them in particular are denying medical services to trans teenagers, that is, that’s life-saving medical treatment,” Schneider told reporters at the time. “This bill is going to cause the death of children and that’s very sad for me and it’s really scary.”

This is no surprise, sadly. However, there is still plenty of time to stop it. If you live in Ohio, please contact your representative. Tell them they did the right thing in November, and ask them to do it again. Children’s lives are still at risk https://t.co/1abekDmmsZ

“This is not a surprise, unfortunately. However, there is still plenty of time to stop it. If you live in Ohio, please contact your representative,” he tweeted. “Tell them they did the right thing in November, and ask them to do it again. Children’s lives are still at risk.”
