Jo Koy recently opened up about her relationship status at the She Ready Foundation’s first annual Prom Gala. The comedian, who split from Chelsea Handler, said, per People magazinee,”[I’m] single Yes yes yes And our farewell was beautiful. It is.”
Handler announced that she and Koy had split in an Instagram video posted in July 2022. In the post, the actress wrote, “It is with a heavy heart that we have decided together that we should take a break from our relationship for good. now.”
The handler praised Koy in his message, writing that their love has “renewed my faith in men” and who he is. The “Chelsea Lately” star further wrote that Koy opened up her creativity, “lust for hard work,” and reminded her of “who I was and always will be.”

During an episode on the “Now What” podcast with Brooke Shields, Handler said their relationship was the best example of a “mani” or “now what” situation in her life.
He said, per Many people, “I believed that this was my man. I thought, ‘Oh my God, I won.’ Like I’ve got everything. I have my career; I have respect; I have my family; I have a lot of friends; I have all these things. And then I think this is going to be the person I spend my life with.
The TV personality explained that because of Koy, she was open to marriage, and they discussed it seriously as it was an important topic for the comedian. She added, “And then, towards the end of the relationship, it became clear that this was not my person.”
They Can’t Agree on Certain Behaviors

During her interview with Shields, Handler explained that she and Koy ended up disagreeing on “some behaviors”. The actress explained that she felt like she had to “abandon” herself to accept certain situations with Koy, which she would only do if she were younger.
He said, “No matter how much I love this person – and I love him very much – I’m not going to leave myself. I’m not going to change the way I behave to make you feel more comfortable. I didn’t do that, and I had to leave something that I believe it’s going to be a forever relationship. So that’s tough.”
