Dame Joan Collins’ Mom Told Her To Always ‘Moisturize’ & Use Her Night Cream
Although the entertainment scene has been filled with celebrities who change their appearance to be perfect, Collins has a strict policy of maintaining her natural appearance. The Golden Globe winner revealed this decision during a recent interview with The Guardian, following compliments on her flawless skin. He emphatically stated:
“I didn’t do anything. I can’t do all that. First of all, I am needle phobic. It was my mother who told me to moisturize and use night cream.”

The CableACE Award nominee also mentioned that she takes precautions to avoid sun exposure and has shared these skin care tips with her daughter. In addition to using her mother’s tips to maintain healthy skin, Collins has had an incredible and enduring career in the entertainment industry.
Initially playing the “bad girl” role in her early films, her journey began when she was cast as a juvenile delinquent in the film “I Believe in You” at the age of 17. In 1955, she signed with 20th Century Fox and was promoted as the new Elizabeth Taylor, although she never achieved that level of fame.
The People’s Choice Award winner then took a break from movies in the 1960s to raise her first two children — daughter Tara Newley and son Alexander Newley. He returned in the early 1970s, exploring the world of horror with films like “Tales From the Crypt.”
As the 1970s drew to a close, the author of “My Secret” turned to a different genre, gaining representation with successful sexy films such as, “The Stud” and “The B—.” However, her most iconic role came as the narcissistic Alexis Colby in the US soap opera “Dynasty.”
Outside of acting, Collins has authored 19 books, including a best-selling novel, and has been a columnist for Spectator magazine. She is also known for her eventful personal life, having been married five times, with her current husband Percy Gibson.
Her list of past lovers includes famous names such as filmmaker Warren Beatty, actor Marlon Brando, former boxer Ryan O’Neal, and the late actor Harry Belafonte.

In addition to having an enviable acting and writing record, and experience to match, the “Happily Divorced” alum also spoke out about the Kardashian-Jenners’ knack for cosmetic procedures.
According to The Blast, he has used the pages of his 2021 memoir, “My Unapologetic Diaries” to slam them for moving. Despite being a close friend of the family’s parent, Kris Jenner, she stated:
“Kris is a good friend of mine and I don’t want to be rude about her kids, but there’s a lot of surgery there and I’ve talked to my friends about it, as I’m sure you have too, the bottom, the small waist.”
Collins proved that the problem goes beyond the Kardashian-Jenners when he talked about “The Big Valley” actress Linda Evans’ surgery as well. He wrote in the book:
“Are you supposed to ignore someone when they come in with tape over their eyelids? Everyone was shocked and wondered what he had done?”
The author of “Health, Youth and Happiness: My Secrets” is also not shy about criticizing modern trends, such as cosmetic procedures like “nip and tuck,” and he seems unapologetic about his views. About that, he wrote:
“Am I the only one who thinks there is an obesity crisis? People’s lips have done it, I think they look ridiculous. I am sorry. And if people want to go around looking like that, I’ll laugh at them.”
While his views on such matters may resonate with some, they may also face disagreement from others. Regardless of those differing opinions, however, Collins seems unconcerned about voicing his perspective.
