Former host of “The Daily Show” Jon Stewart surprised guest host Roy Wood Jr. on Tuesday’s episode dressed as the legendary “Star Wars” character Obi-Wan Kenobi.

After discussing Trump’s trial, Wood lamented the pressure of being a guest host, saying that good hosts not only have to be funny and sarcastic but also have to be “powerful” and they have to “go viral.”
“I do not know what to do. I just wish I had someone I could talk to, to guide me,” he said, which prompted Jon Stewart to appear dressed as Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Wood pretended not to know the former late-night host, who ran the program from 1999 to 2015. “I worked here when the budget wasn’t that big a few years ago,” Stewart joked. “I actually organized the program, to be honest with you.”
After Wood joked, “The Daily Show has a white host?,” he asked why Stewart was dressed as a Jedi. This later sparked a debate with Wood who complained that he did not want to be compared to Luke Skywalker.

This went back and forth for a while until Stewart agreed to be Yoda. Wood called it an apt comparison, telling Stewart that he was “all limp and green and s—.” Wood said that he would be Lando Calrissian, for “obvious reasons,” prompting Stewart to joke, “Is this a trap? Yeah, because you both have mustaches?”
Stewart then decided to impart some much needed wisdom to Wood. “My point is this, Roy, and thanks for having me on the program,” Stewart said. “And you’re doing a great job, by the way. The thing about this historic allegation is…”
Before he could explain himself, Wood bluntly told him that they were running out of time. Wood is the latest in a long line of celebrity guest hosts who have taken over the show until a new host is found.
‘The Daily Show’ Welcomes Multiple Guest Hosts After Trevor Noah’s Departure
Wood has been a longtime correspondent on “The Daily Show” and is just one of many celebrity guests to host on the show since former host Trevor Noah gave up his chair.
Other celebrity hosts include Chelsea Handler, Leslie Jones, John Leguizamo, Al Franken, DL Hughley, Hasan Minhaj, Kal Penn, Sarah Silverman, Wanda Sykes and Marlon Wayans.
A month after he left the show, the South African comedian appeared on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” and admitted that he hadn’t followed the news closely since leaving the show.
He recalled how he previously had to “wake up, watch the news, go to bed” every day. While he doesn’t miss the “grind,” he said he still misses the “people, culture and atmosphere” of the show.

“Making a daily television show, in many ways, is like planning a wedding,” he explains. “So who do you think the guest is? What do you want to wear? What will happen? Who will make the toast? What speech will be delivered? What does everyone eat? Who sits where? How is it going? And then the wedding happens, and then you go, ‘Okay, we’re going to have another wedding tomorrow.
Comedy Central President Chris McCarthy has stated that “The Daily Show” is slated to relaunch this fall, but a new permanent host has yet to be announced.
